One frosty neighborhood.
This view from my front door was especially pretty one early morning. Something was in the air !! Maybe the tiny crystals in the atmosphere made colors glowing in the trees and clouds. I just had to take a shot at it.
Frost forms the same way as dew except it occurs when the dew point is below freezing. True frost forms when the temperature is below freezing. The moisture goes straight from a gas to a solid. If the moisture goes from a gas to a liquid and then to a solid then the result will be frozen dew. You can tell the difference between frost and frozen dew by looking at them. Frost looks more feathery, brighter and you can see the crystal formations. Frozen dew is solid and does not have quite the white appearance as frost.

Standing at the end of the tunnel with the crimson-colored ivy covered wall, a sign of the coming autumn season, but still have a glimpse of bright lit summer on the other end...

Trunk Bay is frequently rated as the most beautiful beach in the world, but to me also the most romantic beach. With sparkling soft white sands, crystal clear turquoise and indigo blue water, tropical corals teeming with fish, sounds of gentle waves and rustle of coconut palms, this untouched natural beauty with stunning view forms an exquisite setting to relax and play.
The beach has two sweeping sections that join to form a perfect shape of heart, a symbol of love and romance.
One can see a strong visual line of beach that seems to form a heart shape。
远望绵绵青山蜿蜒,
近听涛涛碧水拍岸,
天际悠悠离别的浮云
一抹脉脉余晖的斜阳……

唯有山水依然。

The forest floor was on a steep hill so some of the trees were standing straight while others appeared leaning at an angle. Also, since the trees were so tall, I used the vertorama technique to stitch multiple photos to create a single image that capture the wider angle view.

Took a break to breath in the refreshing and crisp air of the autumn by the lake...happened to notice the reflection of indigo sky, puffy clouds, lily pad, tall grasses and a few fallen leaves coming together to form a beautiful visual...
One viewer brilliantly suggested that this image reminds her of Monet's water lilies paintings. Now, this makes perfect sense and I will add it to the title. Thanks Flor !!

Happy Australia Day - 26th January 2009
First Fleet arrival was in 1788 but celebration of Australia Day only date back to 1808.
So Happy Birthday Australia....200 + 1 year old
Early morning stroll along Yorkey's Knob Beach. One of those mornings when the sky and sea ooze into each other. Promising to be a very hot hot day, but storms for sure later this afternoon. Love the monsoon season with these cloud formations.

Overcome by happiness, you can feel the sands as fine as baby powders scratching under your feet and warm water of white froth gently touching your senses. Colorful coral reefs, just below the surface of the water, teeming with jubilant sea creatures, reflect the sun rays with a shimmering dispersing of light like the beauty of a diamond. The beach is somehow deserted, so you are the only one at this corner of the paradise. You feel incredibly serene and happy in tranquility.
Even though the magic is impossible to capture in the confine of an image, the glimpse of it again and again allows you to reflect on the scene, to feel free, free to fly, to enjoy.

After much fluctuation of the temperature, cold, warm and cold, the fall color is finally taking off.
The morning sun is beaming down on the crystal clear lake, still a hint of mist hovering above its surface, reflecting off in a beautiful sparkle of sapphire blue and silky smooth white. The long pier, defined by the strong angling light, gently bobbles up and down, seeming to extend forever, so far away that it almost touches the brilliant arrays of dazzling autumn colors, splashes of glittering gold, blazing red and pumpkin orange, on the distant shore.
You wander to the edge of the lake, sat down with legs crossed and eyes glazing, minds drifting. You enjoy the sound of gentle lapping waves and feel the crispness of the fall breeze... your senses are completely immersed in this most wonderful and magically moment...

South Island, New Zealand
The Franz Josef Glacier is a 12 km long glacier located in Westland Tai Poutini National Park on the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island. It is a spectacular glacier that descends straight from the frigid Southern Alps to the greenery and lushness of a rainforest.
The Māori name for the glacier is Ka Roimata o Hinehukatere ('The tears of Hinehukatere'), arising from a local legend: Hinehukatere loved climbing the mountains and persuaded her lover, Wawe, to climb with her. Wawe was a less experienced climber than Hinehukatere but loved to accompany her until an avalanche swept Wawe from the peaks to his death. Hinehukatere was heart-broken by the unexpected death of her love. Her many tears flowed down the mountain and were frozen to form the glacier.
Fed by a 20-square-kilometre large snowfield at high altitude, it exhibits a cyclic pattern of advance and retreat, driven by differences between the volume of meltwater at the foot of the glacier and volume of snowfall feeding the névé. Having retreated several kilometres between the 1940s and 1980s, the glacier entered an advancing phase in 1984 and at times has advanced at the phenomenal rate of 700 mm a day. Talking about quantum leaps in glacial speed ! Over the longer term, the glacier has retreated since the last ice age, and it is believed that it extended into the sea some 10,000 to 15,000 years ago.
The glacier is part of Te Wahipounamu, a World Heritage Site park.

Marlborough, New Zealand
In the late 20th Century, a new region began to gain a reputation as one of the great Sauvignon Blanc regions of the world: Marlborough, at the northern tip of New Zealand's South Island. The rapid development of the Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc is one of the most dramatic events in the world of wine.In 2011, Marlborough produced roughly 65% of New Zealand's total wine output, 75% of which was Sauvignon Blanc. "Counting Sheep Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc" is its most famous brand.

My take on this exceptional natural beauty.
Big Sur is a sparsely populated region of the Central Coast of California where the Santa Lucia Mountains rise abruptly from the Pacific Ocean. The name "Big Sur" is derived from the original Spanish-language "el sur grande", meaning "the big south", or from "el país grande del sur", "the big country of the south", referring to its location south of the Monterey Peninsula.
Each day is a new page to be written on, a new beginning. Today we can start again.
Monterey Peninsula, CA
Pebble Beach, CA
Cupressus macrocarpa is a medium-sized coniferous evergreen tree, which often becomes irregular and flat-topped as a result of the strong winds that are typical of its native area. We see the cypress all around the Monterey Peninsula; perhaps we often forget how unique this tree is.
There are only two native stands of Monterey Cypress in Pebble Beach and at Point Lobos (appropriately enough at Cypress Point.) The State of California list Monterey Cypress as a Category 1 Rare and Endangered species. They can live up to 2200 years old, even though the exact number is being disputed.

The leaf may be standing but I was practically on the ground... Being one with the nature afforded me a new perspective and was well worth the effort...
The sky was getting dark making it harder to get this shot done because I was handholding the camera without a tripod. Suddenly, a beautiful ray of sun light appeared from nowhere, permeating the woods. The most mysterious and magically part was a tiny ray of light brightened the single leaf I was focusing on. So I took one shot as fast as I can. Then, the sun disappeared again and never came back again. The background trees turns out to be surprisingly interesting, stained glasses ??
A good story about the last leaf

A poetic interplay of blazing red maple contrasted with the deep green woodland, a rather rare combination. The color intensified under a thinly-veiled sun for just a fleeting moment, allowing a perfect exposure to showcase the color depth of foliage. No HDR or saturation adjustment were needed.
