Concerto pour deux trombones rythmé par le bruit des vagues sur le Malecon, le mythique boulevard du front de mer de La Havane.
I played it in high school many eons ago. This is the end of the slide with the bell in bokeh. It's badly tarnished these days with lots of scratches and a few dents. But it still plays (I tried it and I think I may have scared the neighbors). And the spit valve, shown here, is still functional too. :-)

For any who don't know what a spit valve is, by the way, here's a brief explanation that I found online at a site called wonderopolis.org:
"When you play a brass instrument, your breath will condense in the instrument. There, the water vapor in your breath cools. When this happens, it turns from a gas to a liquid. Then, it sits in the metal tubes of the instrument. This water vapor (some of which is saliva or “spit”) collects in the instrument. If it builds up, it can affect its sound. To remove the water (or “spit”), players open the spit valve—also called the water key."

Ran into this trombone player in DC (Georgetown to be exact). Took some B and W style shots of him playing. This guy ws playing along to pop songs (stuff by Bruno Mars and such). Got this one shot while he was taking break during his playing. Used a preset in Lightroom which really brought everything out and a grain effect to give a old-time style picture vibe.
Street theatre... I was going to tidy up the marks on the backcloth, but then I thought 'it is a street pic' so I left them!

The French word for paper clip is trombone.
Many years ago, I asked my bilingual friend Andrew, who was quite stoned at the time, why the French call paper clips “ trombones”. His reply was swift: “Because they come 76 to a box.”
We thought we were going to die from laughing so hard.
