This is a producing garden, and a trombe wall all in one (assuming I understood correctly). Big solar gain.

One of our instructors pretended to be our client, we were assigned a piece of land, & we had to come up w/ a permaculture design based on the needs/wants of our client. Plus, we each had to pick a specialty, i.e. be an "expect" in a particular field. I choose solar & passive solar.

(passive thermal collector) a sun-facing wall separated from the outdoors by glass & an air space, which absorbs solar energy & releases it selectively towards the interior at night, vents added to the top & bottom of the interior wall, allow heated air to flow via convection into the building interior.
