I had a mini, early morning outing to see a spectacular triangular conjunction of Jupiter, Venus and the thin crescent moon around dawn. I had planned to view the conjunction around home but morning low clouds had obscured the view. I had no choice but to do a great escape from the clouds and headed to the Central Valley. This was a rare conjunction so I was determined to go! I had left home around 4:30-ish a.m. My final viewing point was along the Mountain House Pkwy, located around the western side of Tracy, CA. The conjunction of Venus and Jupiter in this part of the sky only happens once every 12 years. That being said, I hope you guys had a chance to view this triangular conjunction of these 3 heavenly bodies! Pics taken from around San Jose and Tracy, CA. (Saturday early morning, August 23, 2014)
