This delightful triangular building was designed by Sir Thomas Tresham (father of one of the Gunpowder Plotters) and constructed between 1593 and 1597. It is a testament to Tresham's Roman Catholicism: the number three, symbolising the Holy Trinity, is apparent everywhere.

This Folly on the Rushton Estate was built by Sir Thomas Tresham in 1593, a staunch Roman Catholic who wa persecuted, and imprisoned for his beliefs despite being loyal to the Queen. The whole building is constructed in threes to represent the Holy Trinity.
I have never managed to visit this building when it was open to the public, and all of the photographs in this et were taken over the wall!
