About 100 ft. high in the treetop. Photo in the wild taken along the St. Johns River. He has a diet of fish and is one of the best hunters on the river sometimes snatching 2-3 lb. prey from below the waterline. Osprey eyes are very penetrating and see below the water's surface.
A Great Blue Heron delivers a small stick for the nest as its mate looks on in this reworked version of an image that I posted earlier this year. I was never crazy about the overcast white sky and the gritty look of the plumage in the original photo, so for this week's Sliders Sunday, I've added a blue sky with clouds and applied a painterly processing style. The original is in the first comments box, for those who are interested.

Captured in my local beech wood.
Sometimes things turn out differently than you think.
On this evening I made multiple exposures from 3 single images of the tree trunks. Before putting my images on flickr, I tend to ask my better half for his opinion. He clearly liked this single image best.

Thank you all for visiting and your kind comments, awards and faves - I appreciate them all.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers for my brother-in-law Matt. He was able to go home late Tuesday night and is getting nurses and PT to come to the home. He still has quite the road ahead of him and can use more prayers but we are so grateful that he is home.
This Blackbird is more concerned about the Cat that is lurking about...As seen on my previous but one Photo ..

Boat-tail Grackle gracing the treetops in the Everglades. When i saw this blackish bird land in a treetop near me I knew it had color. After a few minutes it spread its beautiful wings in the rising sun.
Following my brief foray into the exotic scenery of Cyprus, in the blink of an eye we're back in.... good old Felixstowe :)
More beach huts....I'd forgotten how much I enjoy photographing them. Normally the whole point is the bright colours of the huts but I preferred this one in black and white.
Hope everyone's had a good week, almost the weekend already- enjoy!!

.... where THE BIRDS are.
The photo was taken two days ago. It was a rather grey day, just like most of the days this winter. The sun struggled to break through the clouds but most of the time didn't succeed. It was a day with a lot of bird activity, though, and they kept Linus busy. Today the weather is even more disppointing, no sun at all, even THE BIRDS are depressed and stay hidden.
A scene looking across the Heron Pond at Bushy Park , saw the reflection and with a few sidesteps had the sun shining through the top of the tree !!
It's not easy being a butterfly in love...
I followed this coupled pair around the field as they were bombarded by other green veined whites and even peacocks, red admirals and tortoiseshells ("oops sorry - wrong species!") all trying to get in on the act.
Finally they found a more secluded spot high in a tree, and if you look carefully you'll see they're not the only ones indulging in a little Spring romance 😉

"I did not hear... The shivering sound... Of TREETOPS PUSHING... Up through the ground..."
"The clouds talking with the tree!!! Incantevole !" / "Les nuages parlent à l'arbre. C'est ravissant !" (SASSIX2 / www.flickr.com/photos/91760921@N02/ )
"Addicted to your light I drove straight into this shot, too fast, but the lines of horizon and clouds kept me on track. Just behind the tree I took my exit with a 180..."

A young female Anhinga sunning at sunrise from the tree top in the marsh of the 10,000 Islands. A perfect environment for this girl.
