Lignano Sabbiadoro and the countryside.

Out checking options for foggy days and spotted some possibilities in this city park that used to be a graveyard...no, nothing spooky about that!

This is a photo from a snowy day in Hasliberg. I was out with my girlfriend and sledge and I saw this lone tree on our way back, standing there in the increasingly heavy snow. I had to remove some power lines behind it though as they were fairly distracting. I opted again to go for a cool colour scheme to emphasise the cold and isolation.

This is another photo from my last photography walk of 2021 in Hirzel. I liked the contrast between the wild looking tree in the foreground and the more round but still somewhat left leaning tree in the background. This time I edited the picture in black and white.

Yesterday I went out to Hirzel during the day and took some photos of some trees. Most I edited in back and white but for this one I liked a bit of colour, with its Symmetry.

Happy New Year everybody!

Wintertime in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy.

Taking advantage of a very foggy morning to play with some colour in Lightroom. I love how the sun is so distinct through the tree branches here. Adding the yellow tones really isolated it whereas in the SOOC shot it was much less apparent. Look closely and you'll see my cyclist!

This is a photo I took back in January in Hasliberg. We were out in the fresh snow with snow shoes, and I liked how the snow covered hills in front of my looked with that small group of trees on top of one of them and the dark (blue) sky in the background. Unfortunately, I messed up the settings, so I accidentally took it at ISO 1600, but I think it still kind of works.

I saw this tree at Alp Scheidegg in the snow and really liked how its branches looked like they were slowly trying to grab something in front of it. I reminded me of a Huorn out of Middle earth, half awake and angry.

This is a photo I recently took on an early photo walk to the Katzensee. I liked this tree but had a bit of difficulties to find a fitting composition as it is not allowed to leave the path. In this shot I therefore just focused on the sweeping branch and the short grassed in the foreground.

We came across this tree on the Great Glen Way from Drumnadrochit to Abriachan. I had to stop to photograph it, as it really impressed me. Due to all the other trees around it (witch probably were the cause of its death) it was really difficult to find a good composition. This one worked out somewhat I think, with the light coming from the top behind the tree.

This is a photo I took a few days ago at the Katzensee. The sun was already quite low in the sky and illuminated those trees in the foreground. However, I edited this rather aggressively, as the dynamic range was very high and the stitched HDR file turned out very flat. So I did a lot of local adjustment like dodging and burning and pulling out colour in post.

This photo is from February when going outside was still the norm. However, this tree kept its distance to other trees already then and still stands lonely in its field. I think the black and white processing shows the current mood a bit.

The older I get the more I begin to believe that the lifespan of the human species is finite. I think there is no question that at some point in the future we will manage to exterminate ourselves. Which when you think about it is superbly ironic for supposedly the most intelligent life form on this planet! Perhaps we should ask the ants and the rats for advice because I'm sure like these wonderful old trees they will out survive us and go on to thrive long after we have either blown ourselves to smithereens or managed to pollute ourselves out of existence.

Have a good day everyone! 😇

This is an old photo I took in 2018 in Sweden while walking to the lighthouse of Kullaberg.

I shot this composition now quite a few times, this is the fourth version. This one I shot on the morning of the thirty first December, so this is the light from the last sunrise in 2020. The clouds had a bit of a break in the east so the sun could illuminate the clouds in that band at the horizon from below. Sadly, there was no snow and only just a little bit of frost on the field to complement the sunrise light.

A lone tree in the landscape East of Kerry, Powys, Wales, UK

This photo I took a while ago in the evening at Katzensee. This person stood very nicely beside that tee, in the sunset.

This is another photo from my early morning trip to Katzensee to photograph the last sunrise of 2020. It once again features this lonely tree on the field. The light we had this morning was really wonderful. Here it just illuminates a small stripe of sky just behind the tree.

This is another photo from our trip to the Wägitalersee. It was very foggy and I saw those trees in the distance, barley visible.

As the sun descends behind the trees, a few birds take advantage of the last bit of light before calling it a day and heading back to their nests. #birdwatching

Clywedog reservoir, Powys, Wales, UK

This is a photo from lass fall on the way down from Cimetta above Locarno.

Also a photo form Katzensee. The dark semi frozen puddles in the foreground attracted me to this scene with this group of trees behind. I darkened these spots down a bit more to get the contrast I experienced on location and edited the picture with a generally cool tone, as I do with a lot of my winter landscape shots.

Sunrays at the Dyfi forest

Dyfi forest, Powys, Wales, UK

This is a photo I took a while ago in a forest close to where I live. The leaves still had those very nice yellow colours and the light did shine through the forest. This scene was just off the path and the fern anchored the more complex background nicely.

This was taken a couple of months ago on a trip to some local woodland to try out a new lens I'd just bought (see tags). There was still some lovely colour in the trees and I found this old tree standing on the edge of a field directly in front of a hill that was full of trees that were splashed with those glorious late autumn oranges.

This is a photo of a tree I took a while ago in the forest of Hönggerberg. I liked how there was just a bit of light touching the mossy side of this tree, revealing some texture in bark and moss.

This is a photo of a tree I took in the lake district last spring while walking around Derwentwater. It was a very nice day with a bit of haze in the atmosphere, witch gives a nice separation from the forest in the background, letting the sunlight tree stand out. With the sheep and the fence it captures how I saw the English countryside.

Early (ish) morning hunt for reflections at Cwm Elan today, Powys, Wales, UK

Memory back from a trip with my mother last month when I went home. This was from the near the end of a whole casually enjoyed day with some colourful atmosphere which finally won my attention(I'm not quite an outing-with-crowds person, rather more of a sitting-silently-and-reading kinda girl). Right now here nature is fresh greenish with sweet, cold, slow breeze reminding of the last days of winter, so reflecting on the flowers in memory.

Hope you're alright and having bright, peaceful days :)

P.S. Currently at the end of the Chronicles of Narnia marathon(almost), after which I'd take a short break and start another(In Sha Allah). About which I'm a bit confused... what do u suggest I should read next - lotr or Anne series? (My heart's going for Montgomery)
