Future waiting, shining bright

In the Shadows

   

The result of chasing some thunderstorms in The Netherlands.

 

I found this tree a while ago and I wanted to photograph it with a storm for a while. Yesterday some thunderstorms were in the right position (or maybe I was) and lined up. This shot was tricky though:

 

It was still light around 5PM (sunset is at 10PM here currently) and while the thunderstorms rolled in, it was difficult to see the lightning strikes. I didn't even know I caught this strike. I put the camera on Timelapse of 0.8 second exposures, every 1 second. Meanwhile I was busy blowing off water from the lens (it started to rain) and looking around myself to decide if it was still safe enough to stay. Soon enough, I could really see this little thunderstorm come close.

But when the rain got heavy and the strong gusts hit me, I knew it was time to run for the car. Meanwhile I got completely soaked and I thought I didn't get any lightning photo. When I checked the shots in the car, there was just 1 photo with a lightning strike, which was this one.

 

I was actually surprised at how visible the strike was, considering it was just afternoon and I caught it in the 0.8s exposure. This is a 12mm shot, meaning the lightning strike hit the ground super close.

 

I really like how it came out, with the tree frames within the branches and the lightning.

Sleet, Snow and Rain all in one. But what an adventure.

What I find very interesting is that my first ever entry in a photoshop contest made it (it's #299). I didn't even have Photoshop then & the edit is dreadful.....lol. I don't know how that one ever got there!

This was a tree that I liked because it was by itself a few months back. I played around with it a lot, and was finally able to take it away from it's normal state and give it a certain artistic touch that I liked. Sometimes images are great to see how they normally look, while other times combining art with nature's objects is more appropriate when the right things work. I hope others enjoy this image as much as I do.

Point Reyes National Seashore

There's a set of nasty storms approaching. The clouds rolling in provided a nice texture against the dead tree branches. This was not converted to black and white.

This is the family tree of Dark Eternity. And I AM Proud of having meself hanging in htis tree^^^This is the sim I was borne in as Liza, made by IZ who found this sim shortly after her arrival and ^me behind hte computer immediately fall in love with this sim^^^^ The lady and gentleman you see there in the pictures are Dare Munro, owner of this lovely sim and his cool girlfriend^^ You also see a little bit of DYS and Vasha^^^^^DV8:s lovely owners^^

The tree of darkness- detail

the tree of darkness slowly and steadily approached the tree of light. one day there would be a great intertwining, and all trees would be seen as the same canopy-organism.

There is a complex just off 33 which has a whole bunch of touristy yet fun stuff to do. This putt-putt golf course was the most nicely landscaped course I've ever seen! There were a bunch of different kinds of hostas and nice contrast between leaves and trees of dark red-purple, blue-green, yellow, and even white. The animals were chainsaw carvings by a local craftsman.
