Today I spent a few hours with an old friend at the lake. Whilst he did some fishing I took a stroll along the lake shore. This was a scene looking across the lake and the remains of this very old tree captured my imagination and made me think.
Blue tit (Chanistes caeruleus) singing a song. Perched in a tree with spring buds forming. Captured in Bremen’s Bürgerpark in March 2024.
90012 1430 Euston - Glasgow 28th March. 1989. My association with the Greenholme tree position goes back to the 1983/84 period when after a day spent on the S&C we would head off to Greenholme in the hope of capturing some northbound freights, specifically the Gunnie cement. Happy days.

Close-up of the rear end of a vintage Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray, painted in a soft yellow finish. The iconic quad round taillights and chrome details gleam in the sunlight, while the sculpted fiberglass body reflects the surrounding trees. Captured at a car show in Longmont, Colorado, this image highlights the timeless design and craftsmanship of this American classic.
Made it back to the main falls area for the sunrise, catching the warm lighting on the Virginia side trees.
Captured this shorter long exposure with the 10mm on the 60D, while taking a longer exposure with the 5D (yet to process that one).
Pretty view with the ice and snow out on the rocks in the middle of the flow. Also nice catching it here under lower flow conditions, have many shots with torrents coming through where you can barely see the rocks. It is pretty with all the many cascades along the 75 foot drop of the Potomac River.

A nice, large tree captured with an infrared converted camera, blocking visible light up to 705nm, but also passing blue light. Shot in monochrome from the outskirts of an golf course during the Lotte Championships.
I had set up my trail cam out in the woods just a short hike from our house, there is a stream which feeds a small watering hole. It had snowed the night before making for nice light the following morning.
I got lucky with this shot, Mr Wiley Coyote came into view and stood Vigilant as my cam in the tree captured this scene.
I have other pics of several of his brothers and sisters as they strolled by, but this was the best of the sequence

The 'scribbles' on the bark of this tree are made by the larvae of tiny moths, which burrow under the bark. Like many eucalypts, scribbly gums lose their old bark each year, and when they do so the trails of the larvae can be seen. The tree captured in this photograph was recovering from fire, which makes its bark particularly bright and colourful.
