First of all, let me just say that this word is impossible to spell. You can’t look it up if you can’t spell it. I put in something that said, “there are no matches for your word. Did you mean Travis O’Shea?” What? No! I finally found it by looking up catapult.

This is another, ‘I don’t know what this is or what it is used for’ image. Even my vast resource department is stumped. I can tell you what I don’t think it is, however.

I don’t think it is 1) a stand for hanging and dressing out a deer 2) a boat lift 3) an arch for a wedding couple to stand under, or 4) a fishing apparatus for catching the big boys (which we don’t have in the creek).

The closest I can come is that it a trebuchet which is missing its throwing arm. I think the people who live across the creek may be causing this guy trouble and so he shoots pumpkins, squash or various gourds across the water at them. Effective and fun! Then again I could be wrong!

Le trébuchet ou la perrière est une arme de guerre de l’artillerie médiévale à bascule et à contrepoids lançant des projectiles. Il a été l'arme la plus puissante du XIIe au XVe siècle, avant que les canons à poudre ne le remplacent.

A full size counterweight trebuchet on the grounds of Warwick Castle in Warwickshire, UK.

The trebuchet is a compound machine that makes use of the mechanical advantage of a lever and potential energy to fling projectiles up to 140 kg/350lb as far as 300 metres/290 yards.

Occasionally, disease-infected rotting carcasses were flung into cities in an attempt to infect and terrorize people under siege, an early medieval form of biological warfare.

The trebuchet did not become obsolete until the 13th century, well after the introduction of gunpowder, it has been described as the "most powerful weapon of the Middle Ages."

Urquhart Castle is a ruined medieval fortress located on a headland overlooking Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. The castle has a history spanning over 1,000 years, from a Pictish fort to a royal castle and a clan stronghold. It was the site of numerous conflicts, including during the Wars of Scottish Independence, and was ultimately partially destroyed in 1692 to prevent its use by Jacobite forces.

The wooden structure seen in the foreground is a full-sized replica of a trebuchet, a type of medieval siege engine. This replica is one of the many historic items on display at the castle to help visitors understand its history. The trebuchet was featured in a television production called 'Secrets of Lost Empires'.

Today, Urquhart Castle is maintained by Historic Environment Scotland and is one of the most visited castles in the country.

This trebuchet is based on the one used by King Charles III at the siege of Nocera Castle, against Pope Urban VI, in 1385.

This is one of a series of siege engines which can be seen in the attached album.

Troops from Delos have been ordered to attack the city of Teos. Along with other seige weaponry, the army has brought with them one of the most feared weapons of their age... a trebuchet.

Greetings all! This is my second (and last) entry for the CCCXIV. I've actually had this built for almost a month. I just haven't gotten around to photographing it. Yes this is 100% LEGO. The weights are Ninjago Spinners. Also, it does work! Check out the video here!

This replica trebuchet is located on the grounds of Urquhart Castle, situated by Loch Ness in the Scottish Highlands. A Trebuchet is a type of medieval siege engine, essentially a large catapult, that utilizes a long arm to launch projectiles, such as the stone balls seen at its base here.

A trebuchet is a type of catapult that uses a hinged arm with a sling attached to the tip to launch a projectile. It was a common powerful siege engine until the advent of gunpowder. The design of a trebuchet allows it to launch projectiles of greater weights and further distances than a traditional catapult.

Urquhart Castle visible in the background, is a historic ruin dating back to the 13th century and is a prominent visitor attraction in Scotland. The trebuchet and castle are positioned on the shores of Loch Ness, near the village of Drumnadrochit, offering scenic views of the famous loch and surrounding Highlands.

The present ruins date from the 13th to the 16th centuries, though built on the site of an early medieval fortification. Founded in the 13th century, Urquhart played a role in the Wars of Scottish Independence in the 14th century. It was subsequently held as a royal castle and was raided on several occasions by the MacDonald Earls of Ross. The castle was granted to the Clan Grant in 1509, though conflict with the MacDonalds continued. Despite a series of further raids the castle was strengthened, only to be largely abandoned by the middle of the 17th century. Urquhart was partially destroyed in 1692 to prevent its use by Jacobite forces, and subsequently decayed. In the 20th century, it was placed in state care as a scheduled monument and opened to the public: it is now one of the most-visited castles in Scotland and received 547,518 visitors in 2019.

Well - it's a lift bridge on the Caldon Canal near Cheddleton, Staffordshire. But it looks like a trebuchet. A bit...

'And this is where the rocks go? Looks small for such a big machine, I can barely get my foot in...'

'Watch out Jester, this is not a joke!

(yes we all know how this is going to end...)

This is my 3rd entry to the Colossal Castle Contest XXIV

Category - Siege Warfare

Build a medieval siege weapon. Ideas include a battering ram, siege tower, siege ramp, catapult, ballista, or trebuchet.

Will use this in a diorama, I'll probably have it uploaded by tomorrow.

Château des Baux de Provence.

Le plus grand trébuchet de France (16m de haut). Le Trébuchet pouvait projeter des projectiles de 100kg à 300m. Sa mise en oeuvre nécessitait 60 soldats.

Just a taste of my next CCCXIII entry. ;)

A trebuchet is a type of catapult that was used as a siege engine in the Middle Ages. The counterweight trebuchet appeared in both Christian and Muslim lands around the Mediterranean in the 12th century. It could fling projectiles weighing up to 350 pounds at or into enemy fortifications. Its use continued into the 15th century, well after the introduction of gunpowder. Seems like they need to turn 90 degrees!

Credit for the video editing goes to David. Thanks!

Medieval siege equipment. Fully functional with adjustable range by using the lever on top.

Proposed model consists of around 120 parts. Minifig scale.

Thanks!

Despite the introduction of crude gunpowder-based artillery by rival guilds, the mainstay of the Avalonian army's arsenal of siege engines remains the reliable trebuchet.

Built for the Guild of Avalonia as part of the Castle Community Build on Eurobricks, to obtain the title of Siege Master. It is a bit on the small side, but I wanted it to fit on the 24x24 base. This is one of the smaller support trebuchets, which would be used to take out men on the walls or lob small bombs and the like into enemy fortifications, as opposed to actually knocking down walls. Yes, it moves. No, it doesn't shoot. I went for looks instead of functionality, and the counterweight isn't heavy enough to generate the amount of force fast enough to whip the sling around, and if it was, I doubt the frame would hold it up.

Demasiadas oportunidades perdidas.

-------------

I'll try as many times as needed, I'll try until I run out of options or there's no need. I'll come back once and again, I'll call until the door doesn't exist anymore.

Any time you call my name, I don't need anything else.

I'm not giving up, I'm not leaving it aside, I'm not leaving this moment until this moment doesn't exist anymore.

Too many wasted chances.

'What's up with these tiny wheels? Won't it be even harder to move?'

'We only have to move this one in place once, than we remove the wheels...'

I know set 31120 has the possibility to build a trebuchet. But I am not ready to take the castle or the village I build from a second set apart.

So I found this rather beautiful trebuchet on Rebrickable, designed by Midibricks.

I added some tiny wheels to get it from the forest to the castle, And it works; it fires the 1x1 round bricks all across my Lego shelf!

Many pumpkins and cars were catapulted from this trebuchet.

SWOOOSH!

'AAAAAAaaaaaa....'

'There goes Chester the jester!'

'The king won't like it, I think he was rather fond of this one....'
