Congratulations to Maya Tihtiyas on her recent MFA graduation! She's got some wonderful artist residencies coming up.

From a shoot we did in 2018 (which I'm literally still processing photos from, mostly because I'm terribly slow).

From our first shoot, ambient light only, just to see what we could create.

The incomparable Roaire Yum. This was my first solo shoot with a model. She and I had discussed it in advance, and her energy and ideas made this an absolutely incredible experience. My lighting here was inspired by my friend, The Most Exalted Potentate of Love (Cooter Rasputin, for those who know). The purse belonged to my grandmother. Shot at the Houston Warehouse Studios (before they had the AC installed...ooooofff).

A moment where we were more likely testing the lighting than shooting, but I liked how this came out. From a shoot in 2022.

Over the past few years, I've begun challenging myself as a photographer and did some work with freelance models. Roaire kicked it off.

Sage Sundays - I hope everyone is doing well. This one was shot before the golden hour really hit. Ambient/available light only.

A return to Sage Sundays, perhaps.

From a session with Anoush. She's wonderful to work with.

My second solo shoot was with Liv Sage (@asmallwoman). She's amazing to work with. The shoot was inspired by the work of Mark Wilkinson (aka Unexpected Tales on Flickr and creator of Weekly Imogen on YouTube).

Looks a bit warm out there....have a great weekend!

Continuing, sporadically, Sage Sundays.

I timed the shoot so we were wandering before sunset, had the golden hour, and were in an area where I could take advantage of the lights for ambient light shooting after dark.

My homage to the Lewis Morley photograph of Christine Keeler from the 1960's. All in all, I'm pleased with how it turned out.

Thanks for enjoying this series!

One more from this shoot to finish the week with...

From a shoot in 2019, the first time any pics from that one have been posted. This was shot using a Holga lens on my Canon, so a lot of the effects were in-camera as a result.

Update 6/14/23 - I am the photographer, not the model. Comments attacking the model will get your comment deleted and will get you blocked.

We suffer loss and longing as we gaze through our window in quarantine.

Tuesday begins week 3 of working from home for me. It was an adjustment at first with some insomnia or early waking where I couldn’t go back to sleep, but for an introvert like me, it’s almost too natural. This social isolation feels normal now and that elicits mixed feelings by itself. During down time on weekends and after work, I’ve been editing. I’m almost halfway through editing my most recent shoot with this model, the extraordinary Carlotta Champagne. This shot is from our collaboration last year. The new shoot from mid February 2020 marks a stark departure.

35mm film.

I hope everyone else out there is hanging in there. We’ll get through this together, unless we don’t.
