If you want to get a great view of the Brooklyn Bridge & Lower Manhattan try the Brooklyn Bridge Park. The park spans 85 acres of the East River waterfront in the Brooklyn Heights and Dumbo neighbourhoods of Brooklyn and is a great place to visit.
Montserrat is located less than an hours train ride from Barcelona and is the home of a Benedictine monastery.
The quickest route to the monastery is via the cable car (Aeri de Montserrat) offering great mountain views which lasts around five minutes.
Montserrat is a multi-peaked mountain range and is part of the Catalan Pre-Coastal Range with the main peaks are Sant Jeroni, Montgrós and Miranda de les Agulles.
..........and will have to be until further notice. All around the world we are being told to social distance which means no travel for the foreseeable future. We were planning a tour of southern Germany again. We went there 7 years ago and had one of our most memorable holidays meeting a Flickr friend in Germany and one in Holland. We have visited Italy several times through meeting someone through Flickr. And I also visited a Flickr friend in Paris. I have had two Flickr friends from the US visit the New Forest, one from the north of England and another from Dublin but now we must be content with staying at home and only seeing far flung places on-line. Think how lucky we are that we have this wonderful community

The iconic Brooklyn Bridge, my favourite place in New York, hope you like it in black & white?
Brooklyn Bridge was the first fixed crossing of the East River opened in 1883. It was also the longest suspension bridge in the world at the time of its opening, with a main span of 1,595.5 feet (486.3 m) and a deck 127 ft (38.7 m) above mean high water. The span was originally called the New York and Brooklyn Bridge or the East River Bridge but was officially renamed the Brooklyn Bridge in 1915.

The Brooklyn Bridge is the southernmost of four toll-free vehicular bridges connecting Manhattan Island and Long Island, with the Manhattan, Williamsburg, and Queensboro bridges to the north. Only passenger vehicles and pedestrian and bicycle traffic are permitted. A major tourist attraction since its opening, the Brooklyn Bridge has become an icon of New York City.
Alcatraz Island is located in San Francisco Bay, 1.25 miles offshore from San Francisco, California. The small island was developed with facilities for a lighthouse, a military fortification, a military prison, and a federal prison from 1934 until 21 March 1963. Golden Gate Bridge can be seen in the background.

My old copy of the travel book 'Make the Most of Your Time on Earth' was still on my desk-top after taking my last photograph. I had slipped in a book-mark so that I wouldn't lose my page and happened to take a second look. Out from its case came my 'go-to' 'point and shoot' camera and another quick hand-held shot was taken. I even remembered to open-up the lens aperture!
I rather liked the result and after a quick crop .....................
Not my usual choice of book-mark which is often a scrap of paper torn off the day's newspaper, or at best of times a used 'post-it' note! The tassel is the best part - the section in the book is plastic with a psychedelic picture of balloons!

I never thought of a book as a reflective surface, but you learn something in photography every day. This one is new enough that it has minimal wear and dirt, so it's shiny as can be. Reflecting my Dollar Tree reading glasses.
Our trip to Costa Rica was mostly about sun and sand. Tamarindo is a active surf beach along the Pacific coast. We saw a lot of summer fun and playing in the sand. I waited for this beach biker to come past with the sun getting ready to set behind him and casting a shadow onto the sand. #costarica #costaricagram #costaricalife #costaricaphoto #costaricatraveler #costarica

I finished just an evening meal with my son and turned to around the corner when I saw this glowing facade. I´m fond of facades glowing from the morning or evening sun. It reminds of the first fotos I admired when I was a child and looked into travelbooks. So this one is coming directly up out of my childhood.
One of the reasons my husband chose to put us on the Pacific side of Costa Rica was to take advantage of the awesome sunsets. Every night, we had another of nature's shows. #playahermosa #playahermosacostarica #costarica #costaricagram #costaricalife #costaricaphoto #costaricatraveler #costarica

Beautiful snow covered promenade in the centre of Central Park, this quarter-mile mall is flanked by towering American elm trees. At the Mall’s northern end stands Bethesda Terrace, overlooking the Lake.
The southern end features statues of famous writers, earning the promenade its nickname, “Literary Walk.”

It was a wet, wet hike down to the waterfall Rio Celeste in the Tenorio National Park in Costa Rica. Into every rain forest a little (or a lot) of rain must fall! The weather did give the rain forest atmosphere. It was constructed between 1931 and 1936 during the Great Depression.

What could be better than a sunny summer afternoon with a gentle breeze, a pile of good books and a cup of tea? Nothing much, at least for me.
I was actually sitting around being lazy when the idea for this photo came to me, since it was a pretty simple photo; I think all in all I spent 5 minutes setting up and shooting, I decided to play around in Photoshop and see what could be done there.
Very different results from my usual style and I keep going back and forth on whether or not I like it. I think I'll have to review it in a couple days, I think I may have overdone it a bit. I was trying to keep it simple but cannot decide if I succeeded.
All part of the learning curve, right?

Dear Flickr Community,
I just came back from a five week trip in the south east of Asia.
We traveled around Vietnam from the North to the South and In the south of Thailand.
We firstly planed to reach Thailand from Cambodia, but weather in the North of Vietnam wasn't very nice, so we didn't have the time.
I hope you'll enjoy,
See you soon

Broek in Waterland.
Broek in Waterland is a town in the Dutch province of North Holland with about 2350 inhabitants. In the 17th and 18th century, the town was a popular residence for merchants and seafarers from Amsterdam. Due to its monument status, much of its rich history has been preserved.
Many of the houses in the village date back to before 1850.
In the past the town was famous for its cleanliness. Many 17th and 18th century travelbooks of foreign travellers mentioned the cleanliness and tidyness of the village (Wikipedia).
