A little bit of history about this little girl. She is one of the three babies born to Madge and Mattie. She used to live with mum Madge and sister Bubba, until the camera installed in their viv showed me that the other two were not letting her feed and biting her. I had to get her out of there and find another vivarium for her and she was traumatised for a long time. Usually Lesser Tenrec boys can fight.. and kill each other, but not the girls... She was clearly frightened for a long time so I deliberately havenโt photographed her.. Last year, she took to climbing her tree during the day and sunbathing up there. She now has another hide at the top of the tree to prevent her from falling whilst snoozing!
There are many times I pass this barn, and I think Ooooooo! But more often than not, courtesy of the 50mph average speed limit just there, I have cars immediately behind me, and there is no where to easily pull up.
Mind you last time I was there and had parked at the roadside, some woman drew up along side me, wound down the window of her almighty, I am superior to thou, SUV, scowled at me, and barked aggressively " You can't take that!" leaving me traumatised and withered at the side of the road as she disappeared off down the road never to be seen again.(Mind you I would give her What For if I did see her again!)
Oh BTW HFF.
Spittal beach in Northumberland has some wonderfully patterned rock formations which lend themselves nicely to a bit of abstract art
Very sadly many years ago my Great grandfather was washed up on these shores, after losing his life in the Eyemouth fishing disaster on October 14th 1881
It was known as Black Friday, the UK's worst ever fishing disaster.
189 men lost their lives, including my Great grandfather, his son, his brother and two of his wife's brothers. Eyemouth alone lost 129 menfolk and many of their families had watched on in vain, as the boats had tried desperately to return to harbour
They had put to sea that day as money was short and they needed to pay the tithe demanded by the Church of Scotland. Twenty six boats in total were engulfed by the storm that arose that day. A storm of extraordinary violence
There was an occasional miraculous story, when days later a boat limped into harbour, having beaten the storm but left those onboard traumatised
The Eyemouth museum has a tapestry, depicting the scene, with details of all those lost.
...and terribly sad to see the unbearable images of poor Ukrainian children, women and men, traumatised, injured or dead under the bombs of the russian dictator.
The only thing I can do and that you can do is to send parcels of food, clothes, medicine, or money...
Impossible not to be affected :
A year ago, I confessed to someone that I have a love of good cover versions of songs, and they gave me a list of twenty song covers they thought I would enjoy. Back in September of last year, I looked at that list again, and thought, wouldn't it be fun to make a picture for every song on that list?
Song number 19 on the playlist is Reach Out I'll Be There, as covered by Jonathan Wilson.
When I thought about how to express this song as a picture, I read through its lyrics. The song is about reaching out to someone who is feeling like they are sad and hopeless and can't go on, to help them, and that reminded me of that movie scene that traumatised so many of our childhoods, the one from The NeverEnding Story where Atreyu's wonderful white horse, Artax, is killed by his despair causing him to sink into the murky depths of The Swamp of Sadness. Atreyu was trying to pull Artax out of his misery and motivate him, but failed, because, as sometimes happens (including to people), the sadness was simply too great for Artax to overcome. In my mind, I began to picture a similar situation with a less traumatic outcome, where reaching out to Artax actually worked, and friendship and love did win out over despair.
And thus, the concept for this photo was born.
37706 handles 1Z54 15.08 Carlisle - Chester "Dalesman" solo after 47245 was removed at Carnforth. We spent an uncomfortable 20 minutes here surrounded by a herd of inquisitive young cows and bulls getting way too close at times but we escaped traumatised but unharmed, they even followed us across the fields to the car. Tuesday 26 July 2022.
Time to reflect on those who gave their lives in conflict on land, sea or air. Also to think of those who came home wounded and traumatised.
Not taken in France but in Yorkshire.

Sans compter qu'il a รฉtรฉ littรฉralement traumatisรฉ tant physiquement que moralement...

Blame it on a veterinarian whom I now call "the butcher", who, during a scaling, removed him........... FIFTEEN TEETH !!!
He presented me with the accomplished fact !
While my Doudou ate normally, without the slightest concern !
Since then, having practically no more teeth on the right side, he lets his tongue hang out...
Not to mention that he was literally traumatized both physically and morally...
He was totally exhausted and amorphous and couldn't eat anything solid (kibbles, sweets...) for several weeks...
I really thought I was going to lose him :-(((

107 is the identification of this cow, part of a small herd of cattle meant for breeding in a tiny village, Baixo Alentejo.
The calves here are kept with their mothers for a few months before they are separated forever.
All the cows are living in anxiety, fear and sadness. They actually run away from people if one tries to get near. I believe they have been terribly traumatised. Imagine, a cow gets pregnant, delivered the calf. Then it's calf gets taken away after a few months. Again, impregnated. Repeated cycle! For the rest of their lives, if not, culled when spent. Tragic!

We are back at the Maleny Bird World and Botanic Gardens in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Almost first up, we met what is said to be the bird kingdom's most intelligent, the African Grey Parrot*. This one actually sang songs including Old MacDonald's Farm. Birds never cease to amaze me. These birds here are mostly rescued from different sources such as the illegal wildlife trade or,owners who can no longer look after them and resettled in their new homes, doted over by their caters and the public alike. This is great news because they often come in highly traumatised as a result of how they have been treated.
It's a very sad fact, that like certain other animals and humans, trauma can cause terrible consequences and is very real. When we had our beautiful boy, Clarry (the Sulphur Created Cockatoo *) he was badly traumatised by contractors working on our bathroom upgrade during the day while we were absent. We will never know what they did, whether it was intentional or he was just upset by their noise or what. But he got very emotionally sick afterwards and had to be treated by a bird psychologist (specialising vet) with both medicine and emotional readjustment treatment. He did come good thanks to that intervention and our love but as you can imagine, few get that sort of help.
I have cut in close to our friend here. It does have a beautiful red tail which you can just see peeking through on the left.
* Spot the difference - Cockatoo and Parrot
"There are twenty-one bird species in the cockatoo family. The cockatoo (or Cacatuidae) family is included in the order Psittaciformes, but they are not classified as โtrue parrots.โ
One of the biggest differences between cockatoos and other parrots are the feathers on top of their heads. Cockatoos have unique crest feathers that are moveable, and unlike the โtrueโ parrot species, cockatoos have a gall bladder!
Cockatoos also do not have oil glands that commonly facilitate preening. Instead, cockatoos produce a fine powder that results from the breakdown of downy feathers. This powder helps to protect their feathers and keep them clean. As a result, they create a lot of โdustโ which may not be good for people with allergies.
The smallest species in the cockatoo family is the cockatiel and the largest is the Yellow-Tailed Black Cockatoo. Cockatoos are mostly white, black, pink or grey, and they often have vivid accent colors including yellow, salmon, orange and red.
Cockatoos are complex birds. If properly socialized they can make good pets, but they are definitely NOT birds for beginners with the exception of the cockatiel.
Cockatoos are prone to behavioral problems such as aggression, biting, feather destruction and self-mutilation. Parrot rescues are overrun with cockatoos that have been given up by inexperienced owners!"
Cockatoos are the loudest of all the parrot species so they are usually not suited to living in apartments.
Cockatoos are not known for their talking skills, but they are good at learning tricks and they love music and dancing. They are also considered the loudest of all parrots and very destructive. Because of this, cockatoos need lots of toys to keep them busy.

Street photography from Glasgow, Scotland.
A previously unpublished shot from June 2018 with an anonymised subject that is perfect to answer the oft asked question: Why am I not currently doing street photography?
I have CPTSD (Complex Post-Traumatic Disorder) and have suffered with it for 20 years.
I managed to live through the technicolour nightmares, flashbacks, intrusive memories and triggered hypervigilance with a number of coping strategies but the Covid pandemic interuppted those and my symptoms worsened greatly. Over the past 3 years my CPTSD became unmanageable and I became really very ill.
I have recently finished a year of intensive trauma therapy which has been a great help but the road to recovery is a long process. Most days I am still unable to even leave the house and face people, and this explains why I haven't even touched my camera for the past 5 months.
I am making progress and am proud of what I have acheived to overcome these difficulties but the road ahead will be rocky, and may take some time and intense effort. I do fully intend to return to my beloved 'people photography' as soon as I am able to do so.
This is why your continued support while I have been uploading older unpublished shots and re-edits has been invaluable. I am grateful beyond measure for your kind words, favourites and support and it has, at times, kept me going and determined to pick up my camera once again.
I recently read someone else's words on CPTSD that sum up the difficulties quite well. I'll leave this here to give you an idea of what I am up against and am determined to beat. Thank you all so very, very much.
PTSD is a living hell but I am determined to not let those that did this to me, win.
Take care everyone.

PTSD isn't just flashbacks and memories.
It's not feeling safe when there is no logical reason for it.
It's intrusive thoughts that change your whole mood in a heartbeat.
It's hypervigilance, seeing threats everywhere.
It's not being able to trust your own instincts because you don't know what is a real threat or what is just in your mind.
It's poor sleep because if you close your eyes you know you will see it all again.
It's not being able to function day to day because you are broken and exhausted.
It's feeling like a failure, feeling like you deserve it and feeling like you will be like this forever.
It's feeling like you can't trust anyone so you would rather be alone.
It's constantly dealing with physical symptoms like headaches, nausea and palpitations.
It's like living in a prison made from your own mind beacuse of what someone else did to you.
It's living with the consequences of someone else's actions and the anger that can bring too.
It's getting triggered into a traumatised state by sometimes seemingly random things.
It's being unable to cope with even the slightest thing that goes wrong.
It's blaming yourself and hating yourself for 'failing' to stand up against those who caused the trauma.
This is from Cromerโs New Year firework display on 1st January. Cromer has a carnival atmosphere with a torchlight procession preceding the firework display. The firework display is provided by the same people who do the New Years Eve fireworks in London. Around 15,000 people come to see the fireworks, double the townโs population. We braved the weather to have a picnic at the beach hut, prior to the fireworks. Iโve put the word โhopeโ in the title in recognition of some of my family who canโt watch fireworks currently because theyโre so traumatised by the distressing scenes from the war in Gaza. And they live hundreds of miles away. Iโm hoping for a permanent ceasefire now and for peace. And Iโm hoping for the resources to be provided to help ameliorate the damage done to people living through the nightmare.
Poor Rex - he only wanted to read books where the dinosaur didn't die at the end. I'm the same way - I won't read a book or see a movie when I know the dog is not going to make it to the end - I was terribly traumatised when I read Old Yeller as a child...
One of my wackier contributions to Macro Mondays, for the theme 'Bookmark'. This dinosaur bookmark (complete with its green tassel) has a long history - my mother gave it to me decades ago, but I found it easily in one of my science books.
This shot was very fiddly to set up (working with even a badly-behaved snail would have been easier). I needed to carefully adjust the positions of the books in the background to get all the relevant titles in view, and still readable using f18.
No dinosaurs were harmed in the making of this photograph.

So, I am finally back, sort of. After coming down with a condition called Costochondritis (Inflammation of soft tissue around ribs and sternum) from inhaling mold from the inside of an abandoned car, then discovering I have an acute allergy to dust as well, I am on an adventure to reshape my life health wise.
Now, about the photo, after watching a video, one of those top ten vids on YT, about dark things discovered on the internet (check out channel: Lazy Masquerade), it got me thinking about the many days during my younger years, my twenties and early thirties, when I DID view such extreme material frequently and why? I believe it was to do with drowning out my existing trauma, but viewing such extreme and graphic footage as well as invoking emotions in me, also spurred on by addiction, that also operated as a form of Self Injury (the emotional form).
It is quite common for those who have suffered such trauma(s), to seek extremes of things to essentially awaken something inside. It is in a bizarre way, one who is traumatised, essentially relives the trauma through invocation of extreme emotions, brought on this way.
If anyone finds themselves in this dilemma, please consider looking into yourself as to what it is that fuels these negative desires, that is something you need to cure. For me, I discovered this type of viewing simply left me feeling depressed and it weakens the soul, as is with thinking alcohol helps you hod on, it is a false therapy and does more harm than good, so I gave it up. Permanently!
I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you.

Had this wee idea to make a collage of pictures of Asha and Jack to tell a wee story that traumatised Asha when she was young. It started off with Asha and her ball on Ballywhiskin Beach and Jack came running towards her, she warned him not to take her ball but he did. It traumatised Asha after that and she didn't want to be friends with Jack anymore but they eventually made up once Jack promised not to take her ball again...
I'm ashamed to admit this but Asha is a bit afraid of Jack, I think if you can read dog body language you can see from these pictures that she is wary of him...lol. I say to Asha 'And you call yourself a dog...lol". Asha's that gentle I can walk her through a duck pond with no lead and she give ALL the birds a wide Berth as she is even wary of them too...not to mention cats. She's never chased any living thing in her life not even a fly...even wee puppies she will shy away if they start barking...

Bleach
Call Me Karizma
I'm not fine
I'm caught between the lines
That I don't see
I don't see
I'm traumatised
From hearing all these lies
That you speak
I wish I could wash you out with bleach
I wish I could wash
If I could find a word that was worse than hate
I would surely say it
Right up to your face
At the first chance that occurs
I'm not a hateful person
You brought out a different version
I'm not who I was before
I no longer hide behind curtains
This is your fault, your blame
You've gone insane
I called your bluff, you called to say
You don't think we'll make it
But I called today, I'm not okay
Eyeballs are drained
I've lost my way
Now you got me saying that-
I'm not fine
I'm caught between the lines
That I don't see
I don't see
I'm traumatised
From hearing all these lies
That you speak
I wish I could wash you out with bleach
I wish I could wash you
Dye my hair with bleach
Wash my mouth out with bleach
Bust my fuckin' lip
Clean my shirt of blood out of bleach
In the curse of love
You're the one cursing my dreams
I don't wanna wake up
If you're not laying by me and
Maybe I don't get you 'cause I don't get you
The kind of miss you
I kind of miss you
Doesn't do justice and speaking of justice
I'ma need your judgement to leave in adundance
Even all you what-ifs
Keep to a hush, let's try to be productive
This is your fault, your blame
I've gone insane
I called your bluff, you called to say
You don't think we'll make it
But I called today, I'm not okay
Eyeballs are drained
I've lost my way
Now you got me saying that-
I'm not fine
I'm caught between the lines
That I don't see
I don't see
I'm traumatised
From hearing all these lies
That you speak
I wish I could wash you out with bleach
I wish I could wash
i do not condone or wish to promote the actions of these evil bastards
A serial killer is typically defined as an individual who has murdered three or more people over a period of more than a month, with down time (a "cooling off period") between the murders, and whose motivation for killing is largely based on psychological gratification. Other sources define the term as "a series of two or more murders, committed as separate events, usually, but not always, by one offender acting alone" or, including the vital characteristics, a minimum of at least two murders. Often, a sexual element is involved with the killings, but the FBI states that motives for serial murder include "anger, thrill, financial gain, and attention seeking." The murders may have been attempted or completed in a similar fashion and the victims may have had something in common; for example, occupation, race, appearance, sex, or age group.
Serial killers are not the same as mass murderers, who commit multiple murders at one time; nor are they spree killers, who commit murders in two or more locations with virtually no break in between.
1969
Sutcliffe committed his first assault on an older prostitute whom he had met whilst searching for the woman who had previously tricked him out of money. He had left his friend's mini-van and walked up Pauls Road, Bradford, until he was out of sight. When he came back, he was out of breath, as if he had been running. He told long-term friend of his, Trevor Birdsall, who was the driver of the vehicle that he was in, to drive off quickly. Sutcliffe said that he had followed a prostitute into a garage and hit her over the head with a stone in a sock. According to his statement, Sutcliffe stated, "I got out of the car, went across the road and hit her. The force of the impact tore the toe off the sock and whatever was in it came out. I went back to the car and got in it".
When the police visited his home the next day, they informed him that the woman, who bore no resemblance to the prostitute who had tricked him out of ยฃ10, had noted down Birdsall's mini-van vehicle registration plate. Sutcliffe admitted that he had hit her over the head, but claimed that it was only with his hand. The police told him he was "very lucky" as the prostitute didn't want anything more to do with the incident - she was a known prostitute and her common-law husband was serving a sentence for an assault.
1975
Sutcliffe committed his second assault on the night of 5 July 1975 in Keighley. He attacked Anna Rogulskyj, who was walking alone, striking her unconscious with a ball-peen hammer and slashing her stomach with a knife. Disturbed by a neighbour, he left without killing her. Rogulskyj survived after extensive medical intervention but was emotionally traumatised by this attack.
Sutcliffe attacked Olive Smelt in Halifax in August. Employing the same modus operandi he struck her from behind and used a knife to slash her, though this time above her buttocks. Again he was interrupted, and left his victim badly injured but still alive. Like Rogulskyj, Smelt suffered emotional scars from the attack, including clinical depression. On 27 August, Sutcliffe attacked 14 year old Tracy Browne in Silsden. He struck her from behind and hit her on the head five times while she was walking in a country lane. Sutcliffe was not convicted of this attack, but confessed to it in 1992.
The first victim to lose her life was Wilma McCann, on 30 October. McCann was a mother of four from the Chapeltown district of Leeds. Sutcliffe struck her twice with a hammer before stabbing her 15 times in the neck, chest and abdomen. Traces of semen were found on the back of her underwear. An extensive inquiry, involving 150 police officers and 11,000 interviews, failed to uncover the culprit. One of McCann's daughters committed suicide in December 2007, reportedly after suffering years of torment over her mother's death.
1976
Sutcliffe committed his next murder in January 1976, when he stabbed Emily Jackson 51 times in Leeds. In dire financial straits, Jackson had been using the family van to exchange sexual favours for money, a fact which shocked family and neighbours when it was revealed after the murder. Sutcliffe hit her on the head with a hammer and then used a sharpened screwdriver to stab her in the neck, chest, and abdomen. Sutcliffe also stamped on her thigh, leaving behind an impression of his boot.
Sutcliffe attacked Marcella Claxton in Roundhay Park, Leeds, on 9 May. Walking home from a party, she was given a lift by Sutcliffe. When she later got out of the car to urinate, Sutcliffe hit her from behind with a hammer. She was left alive and was able to testify against Sutcliffe at his trial.
1977
On 5 February 1977 he attacked Irene Richardson, a Chapeltown prostitute, in Roundhay Park. Richardson was bludgeoned to death with a hammer. Once she was dead, he mutilated her corpse with a knife. Tyre tracks left near the murder scene resulted in a long list of possible suspect vehicles.
Two months later, on 23 April 1977, Sutcliffe killed Bradford prostitute Patricia "Tina" Atkinson in her flat, where police found a bootprint on the bedclothes. Two months later Sutcliffe committed another murder in Chapeltown, claiming his youngest victim, 16-year-old Jayne MacDonald, on 26 June. She was not a prostitute. In the public perception, her death showed that every woman was a potential victim. Sutcliffe seriously assaulted Maureen Long in Bradford in July. He was interrupted and left her for dead. A witness misidentified the make of his car. More than 300 police officers working the case amassed 12,500 statements and checked thousands of cars, without success. On 1 October 1977 Sutcliffe murdered Manchester prostitute Jean Jordan. Her body was found ten days later and had obviously been moved several days after death. In a later confession, Sutcliffe stated he had realised that the new ยฃ5 note he had given her was traceable. After hosting a family party at his new home, he returned to the wasteland behind Manchester's Southern Cemetery, where he left the body, to retrieve the note. Unable to do so he mutilated Jordan's corpse and moved the location of the body.
The following morning, Jordan was discovered by actor Bruce Jones, who at that time was a local dairy worker. He had an allotment on the land adjoining the site where the body was found and was searching for disused house bricks when he made the discovery. The ยฃ5 note, hidden inside a secret compartment in Jordan's handbag, offered a valuable piece of evidence. The note was new, allowing it to be traced to branches of the Midland Bank in Shipley and Bingley. Police analysis of bank operations allowed them to narrow their field of inquiry to 8,000 local employees who could have received it in their wagepacket. Over three months the police interviewed 5,000 men, including Sutcliffe, whom they did not connect to the crime.
On 14 December Sutcliffe attacked another Leeds prostitute, Marilyn Moore. Moore survived and provided police with a description of her attacker. Tyre tracks found at the scene matched those from an earlier attack.
1978
The police discontinued the search for the person who received the ยฃ5 note in January 1978. Although Sutcliffe was interviewed about the ยฃ5 note, he was not investigated further (he would ultimately be contacted, and disregarded, by the Ripper Squad on several further occasions). That month, Sutcliffe killed again. His victim was 21-year-old Bradford prostitute, Yvonne Pearson. Sutcliffe hid her body under a discarded sofa and it was not found until March. He killed 18-year-old Huddersfield prostitute Helen Rytka, on the night of 31 January. Her body was found three days later. On 16 May Sutcliffe killed again after a three-month hiatus. The victim was Vera Millward whom he killed during an attack in the car park of Manchester Royal Infirmary.
1979
Almost a year passed before Sutcliffe attacked again. During this period, in November 1978, his mother Kathleen died, aged 59.
On 4 April 1979 Sutcliffe killed a 19-year-old bank clerk, Josephine Whitaker. He attacked her on Saville Park Moor, Halifax, as she was walking home. Despite new forensic evidence, police efforts were diverted for several months following receipt of a taped message purporting to be from the murderer. The message taunted Assistant Chief Constable George Oldfield who was leading the investigation. The tape contained a man's voice saying "I'm Jack. I see you're having no luck catching me. I have the greatest respect for you, George, but Lord, you're no nearer catching me now than four years ago when I started."
Based on the recorded message police began searching for a man with a Wearside accent, which was narrowed down to the Castletown area of Sunderland. The message was much later revealed to be a hoax. The hoaxer, dubbed "Wearside Jack", sent two letters to police in 1978, that boasted of his crimes. The letters, signed "Jack The Ripper", claimed responsibility for the murder of 26-year-old Joan Harrison in Preston in November 1975. On 20 October 2005, John Samuel Humble, an unemployed alcoholic and long-time resident of the Ford Estate area of Sunderland (a mile from Castletown), was charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice for sending the hoax letters and tape. He was remanded in custody. On 21 March 2006 Humble was convicted and sentenced to eight years in prison.
On 1 September Sutcliffe murdered 20-year-old Barbara Leach. Leach was a Bradford University student killed in Ash Grove, close to the university and her lodgings. It was his sixteenth attack. The murder of a woman who was not a prostitute again alarmed the public and prompted an expensive publicity campaign, which emphasised the Wearside connection. Despite the false Wearside lead, Sutcliffe was interviewed on at least two further occasions in 1979. Despite matching several forensic clues and being on the list of 300 names in connection with the ยฃ5 note, he was not strongly suspected. In total, Sutcliffe was interviewed by the police on nine occasions.
1980
In April 1980 Sutcliffe was arrested for drunk driving. While awaiting trial on this charge, he killed two more women. He murdered 47-year-old Marguerite Walls on the night of 20 August, and 20-year-old Jacqueline Hill, a student at the University of Leeds, on the night of 17 November. He also attacked two other women who survived. They were Dr. Uphadya Bandara, attacked in Leeds on 24 September, and 16-year-old Theresa Sykes, attacked in Huddersfield on the night of 5 November. On 25 November, Trevor Birdsall, an associate of Sutcliffe reported him to the police as a suspect. This information vanished into the enormous amount of paperwork already created.

The Ukrainian refugee and her poodle
Michalovce (Slovakia) - Canine version of yesterday's photo which featured a cat. This refugee settled with her poodle in the Slovak town of Michalovce a few kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Her husband has enlisted in the Ukrainian army and she does not want to leave her country in case the geopolitical situation improves. She goes to see the transit camp veterinarian every day for her dog who has a skin disease. It seems that he was traumatized by the bombardments. A post-traumatic symptom in the words of the camp veterinarian. And like yesterday's cat, we must soon inject him with a booster vaccine.

I suspect that this fellow is the guilty party.

Alter Ego: Man-Mech
Name: Maelstrom Lancaster
Allegiance: Villain
Powers: None
Weapons:
* Customised Mech that allows him:
* Super strength, Durability and Limitless Stamina
* Bulletproof armour
* Immunity to cold temperatures
* Low altitude flight
* Invulnerability against electricity and EMPs
Key Weakness: He's vulnerable against large bodies of water which causes him to be slow.
Origin:
When Maelstrom was on his way home from work he witnessed a villain getting brutally beaten down by the hero, Cosmic Comet, for a standard petty crime. This traumatised Maelstrom for years and from then on had a different outlook on Heroes seeing them as abusers and Villains as the victims. During this time he engineered a robotic suit that could help him on his mission to protect villains from being beaten mercilessly by heroes. Once it was completed he started to use it to protect villains in need by defending them and telling the intercepting hero(heroes) to use their words instead of violence, despite the villain causing them and others harm.

Dolly found it particularly traumatising. They (singular) had been expecting an Attenborough documentary.
Marcel reassured Dolly with a "don't worry dearest, there's a bit of a stalker in all of us".
Dolly wasn't completely sure what he meant, or even if that was actually consoling.
Who had stalked whom hung in the air, and they just let it be.
Mutual stalking, two-way neediness explored with permission, now there's an idea.
Maybe Marcel was right, maybe you had to consider every possibility, and to recognise self as capable of any and everything.

Hero is still only young, traumatised and rescued, he is doing really well and has fitted in so nicely. He doesn't like going out yet, but we put a bird bath at the front of the house so he can watch the birds. This Herring Gull was almost too much for him to bear, his head was motionless, but his tail wasn't.
26-year-old Nurhasnah teaches Bahasa to 6-12 year olds at a local school in Padang. She has been working with Oxfam partner Kabisat part-time as a volunteer since 2007 when they responded to the earthquake in Bengkulu. โI heard that Kabisat was good for people and that their activities were making a difference so I wanted to help them.โ
Nurhasnah had two pupils with her when the earthquake hit. They all escaped unharmed, but sadly her pupilsโ parents were killed when the building they were in collapsed.
โIโve seen an earthquake before [in 2007 in Bengkulu], but this one was very different. This time I was right where the earthquake hit. Everything was shaking, and it was very scary.
โItโs really a big problem for us โ we need everything, shelter and counselling. People tell me theyโre feeling sad. Theyโve lost family members and their homes. Itโs really tragic. [When we were distributing tarpaulins] I met several pregnant women and others who had just given birth. These conditions are really hard for them. They need clothes and medicine.โ
โThe biggest problems that I have seen are to do with people losing their homes and there are big needs for food and recovery. Communities are very traumatised and in need of counselling.โ
Nurhasnah has been helping Kabisat respond to the earthquake for the last five days. She helps type up assessments and plans in the office, and has also been out in the field distributing tarpaulins to people in need of shelter.
โWhen I meet children I feel sad. I am a teacher, so I feel I must teach them how to cope with the earthquake. They are very traumatised, so Iโve been singing them songs and telling them stories.โ
โIn my opinion the government should have responded faster. People need everything. We have to make sure that people are able to access to shelter and counselling.โ

Where do I start with the following reportage, letโs have go.โ๏ธ
Once upon a time a man who shall remain nameless, just watch my eyes๐ shutterbug_uk2012 paid a visit to Trebarwith Strand last summer.โ๏ธ
What he saw there that day has left the poor fellow completely traumatised, I think it is fair to say, so much so he may never fully recover.๐
Yes there by the sea wall with its own private parking bay a Pink ! Mercedes with a very distinctive personalised number plate, not only on the car, but there is also a number plate fitted to the wall to denote the parking space๐ for said vehicle.
Bear with me, the owner of this car is very well known in the area and has an apartment opposite the parking bay, so far so good.๐
Well poor Paul, when www.flickr.com/people/142127040@N02/ and I met him the following evening at Godrevy he was completely disheveled, he said his appearance was down to the fact that he had butt surfed down a cliff (translated into Cornish he skidded down on his ass) to check out a wreck that afternoon, well there are wrecks and there is pure trauma ๐ณ
Fast forward five months or so, and here I am on the beach at Trebarwith Strand in an attempt to get some sunset shots and blow me down guess what I saw out of the corner of my eye, a man I recognised with shoulder length Mick Jagger style grey hair, shirt and cravat, a very smart black coat down to his knees, plus his dog that was dressed normally, however this gentlemanโs stand out piece of attire and star of the show yep, the guy was wearing Pink knee length wellies the same make and colour as our Horace wears๐ท, well I just fell about laughing, I think if Paul had seen this character he would have gone into a complete tremulous๐ฑas this was indeed the owner of the pink Mercedes.
Just a bit more to go, as I walked back to my car it was getting dark and my attention was drawn to an apartment opposite the pink car and the colour coordinated theme continued, as I looked up towards the windows all the lighting throughout the interior of the property was candy pink on show for the world to see๐ธ๐๐๐
Smoke signals were immediately dispatched to Paul, informing him of the psychological challenges he may have to face up to should he choose a return visit to this location.๐
As I have said many times in my defence, you just cannot make this stuff up, only in Cornwall, ๐๐๐
Thank you so much for stopping by it is much appreceated, trust you all have a lovely weekend๐๐๐ท๐บ๐บ๐บ๐ท๐ท๐ท๐๐๐

Today's my birthday and due to lockdown I need to celebrate alone. There must be many of us eager to see loved ones and so get back to some sort of normality.
Yesterday's sunshine laden trip with camera in hand made me think as I took this picture just how utterly beautiful and horrific, (as we fight Covid 19), the natural world can be.
I'm fortunate to be well and safe - so I'm in good mood and spirits and realised that with beauty like this how can anyone ever feel entirely alone? For those traumatised and distraught with loss I hope that being reminded of all that is good in nature helps us to hope and recover and heal.

108/123 pictures in 2023: upside down
In Queensland as for the rest of Australia (and the world at large) today is a sad and inauspicious day as we enter the 4th year of COVID. This horrible virus that has killed untold millions and impacted the lives of virtually everyone on the planet was first announced to us this day in 2020 in Queensland. A day that will also live in infamy. I had this terrible feeling, an innate feeling on that announcement that it wasn't going to be good and was that an underestimation! It's truly hard to believe what we have been through in the last three years, the lives it's wrecked and the damage done to our little world on this Earth and we haven't licked the darn thing yet. This photo shows a shot taken only a week ago of what was once known I guess as a "soup kitchen" but is now mainstream as the economic woes unleashed by COVID have damaged the world's economic stability, taken us to the edge of recession which may come this year and meant that many cannot find a roof over their head nor afford the basic necessities of life.
And with all the knobs and switches available to governments around the world, they have faltered in many ways. It was just too big. And now, we try to live with this thing while the numbers dying, especially in Australia where we fought the good fight for two years and then gave up, continue to be high. But that's the cost of trying to live normally so someone will always have to pay the ultimate price, often the old, the weak, the sick, the poor, the immunocompromised.
But it's good...no more lockdowns, no more, at the moment unpleasant jabs in the arm (if you hate them like me, buy some Emla* cream!), no more toilet paper wars, no more of those pesky masks that are such a bother! The cost of supposed normality.
This shot is taken at St. Andrews Uniting Church in Ann and Creek Streets, Brisbane. We thank those who have served, who have sometimes given their lives to help the sick, the doctors, nurses, paramedics, researchers, churches and volunteer organisations and volunteers, the unknowns, families, friends, police and decent politicians and those I can't even think of right now who have helped in any way. I know we will continue the fight until the race is ๐, it's the human way.
* Emla cream is a topical anaesthetic cream, applied to the upper arm where the injection is given that takes away the sting that vast numbers of people fear, many of whom are so traumatised they will refuse life saving vaccination.

Happy new year everyone -
I hope it's going to get better, generally speaking.
After 3 years of restrictions, fire crackers, rockets and flares were on the sale again and everything was just as normal as ever. Normal madness so to say. Bang Bang for a couple of days allready. I was thinking about the traumatised that came from war zones, wondering what people here are up to, vaporizing millions of โฌ into the skys of Germany and pounding bystanders and neighbours with flash bangs. Just to make it clear, i loved the display of rockets between 00:00 and 00:30, but face it, who needs that crap? Moaning about high energy prices and spending hundreds of โฌ on fire works? The old tradition to scare the ghost away, to make room for a better year, seems to have failed at 00:01 allready.
A random picture for tonight.
I got assignment due this Thursday and I haven't finished it yet.

Grey Seal Mother With Her New Born Pup
I was so excited & nervous about seeing my first seal pup born, I was shaking & managed to get every shot out of focus LOL !!
Happy that the pup is ok, through it looks a little traumatised in the photo it was soon being cleaned up by it's Mother & was suckling when I left.
Unfortunately it's first view of the world was of me hiding in the dunes - I know I wasn't looking my best . . but i'm sure it tried to go back in! ;o))
Lovely to see It enter the world & even a grizzled old codger like me was quite moved by it all !
If I'm looking a little traumatised well I am, I was asleep when that darn Galah flew down near me and screeched in my ear, made me loose another one of my lives, now I've only 5 left.
My bones are shifting in my skin and you my love are gone
My room seems wrong the bed won't fit
I cannot seem to operate and you my love are gone
Still experimenting with lighting a la Tim Walker. I'm happier with it on this one, I did something to the blue curve in the last one and it didn't look right. Just a simple portrait. This is my new dress :)
I was thinking pretty hard today about stuff and the effect its had on me. Its odd, but everytime I reach that level beyond just very sad, I seem to work much harder. I remember being about 13 before it finally kicked in that being a victim was not infact a good thing. I've been reading the newspapers alot lately and its pretty weird. They banned sports days at schools incase kids felt traumatised for losing, a guy with a funny looking beard is suing his work because some colleagues made fun of it, its becoming as though society is changing so that no one should ever ever ever be exposed to possibly being made feel bad about themselves. i'm not sure about everyone else, but everytime i've been made to feel like a loser and an awful person, its always been a character building experience. hmm. makes me wonder how all this affects people. i don't think any of that makes sense, but i just wanted to write down my thoughts.
done now ! :)
edit: i totally agree, this picture doesn't look like me at all - its one of those shots that just doesn't to begin with, and then i edited my mouth to make it less wide (?) and smoothed out my skin abit. Hopefully that explains it abit more!
โUnlike other forms of psychological disorders, the core issue in trauma is reality.โ
~ Bessel van der Kolk (from his book 'The Body Keeps the Score')
South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales are under yet another big wet. We can only hope it is nowhere near as bad as the last one, just a month ago but no doubt, many traumatised people will be holding their breath. I think this poor sodden little Noisy Miner may be feeling the same way. They love their afternoon bird baths, but enough is enough!
