And now for more of the gardens.
Samuel Untermyer was born in Virginia in 1858, and as a boy moved to New York City after the Civil War. He was a founding partner in the law firm of Guggenheimer, Untermyer & Marshall, and was the first lawyer in America to earn a one million dollar fee on a single case. He was also an astute investor, and became extremely wealthy.
Untermyer was also passionately interested in horticulture. He famously said that if he could do it over again, he would want to be the Parks Commissioner in New York City! Unlike most wealthy garden-owners, Untermyer was expertly knowledgeable about horticulture. The level of horticulture at the Untermyer Gardens was nationally famous, and some great gardeners got their training there.
His ambition for the garden was that it be not less than the "finest garden in America."*
The Untermyer Gardens Conservancy was founded in 2011 by Stephen F. Byrns to reclaim the lost splendor of Untermyer Gardens, a Yonkers municipal park that is the home of the finest Indo-Persian garden in the Western Hemisphere.
In 1899 Samuel Untermyer purchased Greystone, the former estate of Samuel Tilden. In the forty one years Untermyer owned Greystone, he transformed the gardens and greenhouses into some of the most celebrated gardens in America. After expanding the estate through property purchases to the north and east of the original estate, he hired Beaux Arts architect Welles Bosworth to design the gardens in 1916. These gardens sprawled over 150 acres overlooking the Hudson River and were maintained by 60 gardeners and supplied by 60 greenhouses. It was open to the public on a weekly basis during the 1920s and for special events, including displays of his famous chrysanthemums and tulips. Thirty-thousand people visited it on one day in 1939.
Upon Samuel Untermyer’s death in 1940, the garden was left in limbo while the estate was settled and a plan to care for it determined. A core part of the gardens was acquired by the City of Yonkers in 1946. In the 1990s, another parcel was acquired, bringing its present acreage to 43. Today, its prestige as one of the greatest gardens in America has been restored, and it is one of the top visitor destinations in Westchester County.
Now, here is an interesting tidbit connected to this park and gardens. It might be hard to believe, but these beautiful gardens, and this property fell into a state of disrepair back in the 1970's. And it was a period in the NYC area when drugs and crime were a major problem. And the occult, and tales of the occult seemingly had generated some new interest. Neighbors around the gardens would hear chanting and see people walking in the park carrying flaming torches. The remains of skinned dogs were also found, and it became apparent that witchcraft and devil worship was at play in park. Satanic scribblings and ominous graffiti appear on columns, towers, and decrepit walls; cryptic markings alluding to a traumatic time in New York City’s history. And now the story gets even more interesting, particularly for those who remember the serial killer "Son of Sam," who later was identified as David Berkowitz, the accused killer of 6, and possibly more. Berkowitz was a devil worshiper and cult follower, and frequented the park in those days on many occasions. Interestingly, a man named Sam Carr, was “the high official of the Devil’s Legion,” and probably how Berkowitz had identified himself as the murderer by leaving a note behind saying it was the "son of Sam" who had committed the crime. In 1976, the crime spree and murders had terrified the people living in the area, and it was until Berkowitz was actually captured in 1977 that the city once again relaxed some.

It was nice to see Tidda being quite comfortable around Nutmeg and Fig!
She doesn't socialize easily as a consequence of her traumatic past and remains always hypervigilant around others, especially the two-legged kind but also four-legged. Now I know I can let them freely meet and that's a positive step to build on.
Keyhole of Whitby, also known as The screaming Tunnel. A very well captured view, the first attempt by me, however.

Life has been put on hold for a little while, I’m starting to struggle more with my mental health, so I might be a little quiet at times. Recent times are taking its toll on me, and there has been virtually no outside support for me for the last year and I’m now struggling myself.
Contemplating starting on medication, which I’ve managed to avoid for 20 years after a traumatic experience on them previously, but it might get me through this tough time so I can continue to focus on family and our business plans. I just feel like I am only existing and have started to isolate myself from even my closest friends. I may not be as responsive some days on here. Hopefully things will get better soon. Feeling like a failure. I wish depression could just do one. 😕

Emily Damari, one of three freed female hostages, reunited with family after 471 days in captivity in Gaza.
The last remaining British hostage in Gaza has arrived in Israel to be reunited with her family after 471 days in captivity.
Emily Damari, 28, who has joint British and Israeli citizenship, was one of three female hostages released by Hamas on Sunday. Doron Steinbrecher, 31, who was taken from her home in the same kibbutz, and Romi Gonen, 24, who was abducted from a music festival, were also released.
The women were seen leaving a vehicle in Gaza surrounded by armed Hamas men and taken to the border with Israel by the International Red Cross. Their mothers were reported to have been allowed to the border to hug their daughters for the first time, while other relatives waited for them to arrive at a hospital in Israel.
A lawyer for Damari’s family told the Guardian earlier in the day that it had been an “incredibly traumatic time” for Emily’s mother, Mandy, and that they had not allowed themselves to get excited until she was returned.

Your early life experiences have had deeply painful impacts upon your brain, your mind and how you see and relate to things, experiences and people. Your layers upon layers of deeply traumatic experiences have led you to see through tear covered glasses. Though you have faced pain-filled misunderstandings and further harm as a result of some people seeing through their rose colored glasses and acting accordingly, there is still value, truth and importance in your perspective. Just because some people are critical of your thoughts, ideas and viewpoints is not an indication you are wrong, too messed up, crazy or bad. You have a gift of seeing things from a vantage point some people will not understand or may choose to invalidate. It’s ok to be who God created you to be.
____________________________
A few weeks ago I went outside in the rain to take some pictures and while enjoying my time outside I got soaked by the falling rain. I am new to the world of wearing glasses. At nearly 40 years old I’ve never needed to wear glasses and though I still have 20/20 vision I needed to start wearing glasses 6 months ago. Just before coming back into the house on that rainy day I realized my glasses had raindrops all over them. This transition to wearing glasses has felt like a huge change for me and little things like tiny raindrops on my glasses really changes my perspective and disturbs my vision—slowly over time I’m trying to learn to “see through” the spots on my lenses and it’s still not as clear as all the years I didn’t need to wear glasses. When this happened it reminded me of the concept of seeing the world through tear covered glasses and it seemed like almost the opposite of seeing through rose colored glasses and what an impact these filters can have on us and those around us.
A traumatic scene was found while walking in a Nature-Protected Area in Spain, St Pedro Del Pinatar. Someone took delight in killing this beautiful snake, a heartbreaking scene.

As most of my friends and followers know I lost my main man Badger this year. He loved nothing better than tearing around on the beach amazing to watch the sand still mid air 20 yards behind him lol.
After a traumatic few months I have decided next year to get another pup same exact cross as Badger.
As some of you know know I tried to bring in another pup a few months ago but it was the wrong time and I was not at all ready.
So am excited to announce this spring or early summer there will be another mad lurcher puppy coming home with me fingers crossed !! Watch this space !!

A pillar is a castle formed by only one person per floor and one above the other until reaching the height they intend to achieve, in this case it was a pillar of six people in height.
It was already loaded, but due to the weight supported and not having support points, at this precise moment the casteller of the second floor, yields and the castle with the people who are on top of it, fall into the void, with what is called in the slang casteller, "make firewood".
Sometimes there are traumatic injuries caused by falls.
As we can see the face of effort of the casteller says it all ... it is a castle of great difficulty.

Psychosis
A period of psychosis is when an individual loses touch with reality, seeing and hearing things that are not there and being inable to distinguish reality.
The common psychotic disorders include:
1. Bipolar disorder - Such patients have severe mood swings. Their mood might be high and very good a minute and suddenly they might experience psychotic symptoms.
2. Delusional disorder - These patients strongly believe in things that are not real.
3. Schizophrenia - Such patients interpret reality abnormally and it is a lifelong disease, which can result in psychotic symptoms.
4. Psychotic depression - It is a type of major depression with symptoms of psychosis
Psychosis can be triggered by traumatic experiences, stress, or physical conditions, such as Parkinson's disease, a brain tumour, or as a result of drug misuse or alcohol misuse. How often a psychotic episode occurs and how long it lasts can depend on the underlying cause.
The DSM*-5 states that psychosis involves abnormalities in one of the following categories or domains:
* Hallucinations: Experiences a person perceives to be real despite the lack of stimulus to cause them.
* Delusions: False beliefs that a person holds despite a lack of evidence or proof.
* Disorganized thought: Having thoughts that are not logical, unrelated, or loosely connected. A person’s thought process may drift away from the topic. Their speech may make no sense to others.
* Catatonia: The person may become unresponsive or oppose stimuli (negativism) or present with unintentional movements or activities that lack purpose (catatonic excitement).
* Disorganized behavior: Unpredictable or inappropriate emotional responses that are not in line with the situation.
* Negative symptoms: A decline in emotions, words, movements, or motivation (anhedonia).
* Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
How is psychosis treated?
With the right support it is possible to manage the symptoms of psychosis and recover!
Treatment usually involves a combination of:
* medicine/s
* education about the illness (psychoeducation)
* psychotherapy or counselling
* community support programs
* family support
* practical support

Sadly I was unable to get out with or without my camera over the weekend. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is an unpredictable beast that hijacks your plans and life. It is a disorder that also tends towards self-blame but, in a positive step from previously, I am not blaming myself for not getting out. Small wins are just as important as the large ones.
I'll try to take some photographs in the garden this week as I prepare and plan my vegetable garden for the coming spring. No pressure upon myself to do so though. Baby steps.
Take care everyone, whatever you love to take pictures of in this world.

Our incredible canine companion gifted to us by his previous owner seen here keeping a close eye on me while taking photos.
We are fortunate to have been given this thoughtful creature who had saved John (his previous owner).
This dog was John's PTSD dog and watched over John so that he could now feel safe and relax after his traumatic military service having lost three friends during one Christmas period from his military unit.
John was understandably after this experience struggling with the loss of his Australian brothers in arms.
John's commanding officer wisely advised John after this experience to get a dog as a companion as he feared he may end up dead.
So a few months after this advice John went to a dog rescue center and was not sure what sort of dog he needed when a little nine month old Boofy came over to John with his then tortured soul.
Boofy looked into John's eyes, wrapped his little front puppy legs around his arm and would not let go and John realized he had found the right dog and canine soul brother and left with young Boofy after paying some veterinary fees and doing the new ownership paperwork.
9 years later John collapsed from an infection in his house. Boofy refused to let John go to sleep as he sensed he would possibly not wake up again.
Boofy ended up jumping on John as he lay on the floor to stop him falling asleep and finally John realized in his daze that he had to phone for an ambulance for help and he then passed out.
The ambulance guys had to break into John's house and Boofy led these guys to John.
Subsequently when John woke up in hospital
he was very aware that he had been asked in effect to phone for help before being allowed to pass out as the Doctors had told John he was definitely about to die from sepsis.
This dog is an Australian cattle dog X German boxer cross.
You may notice the Bentley star on his forehead.
My son and nephew are proud to call this wonderful creature their wolf brother.
Boofy can now relax with our family where he just wanders around the garden at will and bothers the birds and lizards, just doing doggy things in his later years now and enjoys our family outings.
John, his previous owner phones up regularly to ask how Boofy is going and we send John photos.
He is very happy that Boofy can just be a dog and relax and not feel obligated to care for John now and that in itself is a sign of incredible strength and compassion on John's behalf.

Very hard to stop her jumping up and down on things - hopefully the stitches stay intact long enough to do their job.

This was shot during a trip to a huge wildfire area in June. The forest fire raged in the summer of 2014 and was declared a national emergency, eventually encompassing 17,000 hectares.
Though this fire was of course a traumatic event for many local residents it has undeniably created an interesting and valuable environment from a biological standpoint. Especially since a fairly large portion of the fire area has now been protected as a natural reserve, many species will benefit from the fire.
Stanislav and I have made a few trips to this area and this was shot during an early morning session in June this year. We found plenty of these fairly small robberflies scattered in the singed pine twigs. The dark background is a tree stump, turned into charcoal by the fire.
Stacked from 30 natural light exposures in Zerene Stacker.

Urgh, yesterday was traumatic. New job means I needed a new photo for my building pass and Teams profile. The most recent suitable one I had is about 5 years old 😬 I think I took somewhere in the region of 50 pics before I managed to get something that was vaguely appropriate. On the plus side, I took it with my work phone. The low res camera smoothes out my wrinkles a treat! 😂 I am so unphotogenic.
Anyway, here's a picture of a bridge instead.

Street photography from Glasgow, Scotland.
A previously unpublished shot from June 2018 with an anonymised subject that is perfect to answer the oft asked question: Why am I not currently doing street photography?
I have CPTSD (Complex Post-Traumatic Disorder) and have suffered with it for 20 years.
I managed to live through the technicolour nightmares, flashbacks, intrusive memories and triggered hypervigilance with a number of coping strategies but the Covid pandemic interuppted those and my symptoms worsened greatly. Over the past 3 years my CPTSD became unmanageable and I became really very ill.
I have recently finished a year of intensive trauma therapy which has been a great help but the road to recovery is a long process. Most days I am still unable to even leave the house and face people, and this explains why I haven't even touched my camera for the past 5 months.
I am making progress and am proud of what I have acheived to overcome these difficulties but the road ahead will be rocky, and may take some time and intense effort. I do fully intend to return to my beloved 'people photography' as soon as I am able to do so.
This is why your continued support while I have been uploading older unpublished shots and re-edits has been invaluable. I am grateful beyond measure for your kind words, favourites and support and it has, at times, kept me going and determined to pick up my camera once again.
I recently read someone else's words on CPTSD that sum up the difficulties quite well. I'll leave this here to give you an idea of what I am up against and am determined to beat. Thank you all so very, very much.
PTSD is a living hell but I am determined to not let those that did this to me, win.
Take care everyone.

PTSD isn't just flashbacks and memories.
It's not feeling safe when there is no logical reason for it.
It's intrusive thoughts that change your whole mood in a heartbeat.
It's hypervigilance, seeing threats everywhere.
It's not being able to trust your own instincts because you don't know what is a real threat or what is just in your mind.
It's poor sleep because if you close your eyes you know you will see it all again.
It's not being able to function day to day because you are broken and exhausted.
It's feeling like a failure, feeling like you deserve it and feeling like you will be like this forever.
It's feeling like you can't trust anyone so you would rather be alone.
It's constantly dealing with physical symptoms like headaches, nausea and palpitations.
It's like living in a prison made from your own mind beacuse of what someone else did to you.
It's living with the consequences of someone else's actions and the anger that can bring too.
It's getting triggered into a traumatised state by sometimes seemingly random things.
It's being unable to cope with even the slightest thing that goes wrong.
It's blaming yourself and hating yourself for 'failing' to stand up against those who caused the trauma.
Still feeling a bit low because a number of friends are receiving layoff notices this week and others are living under immediate threat of layoff. So traumatic and I'm wondering what I can do to help. I'm also very disappointed in the current stimulus legislation as I am sure it is far from being as effective in saving/generating jobs as it should for the money being spent.
This photo was taken at sunset from in front of my house.
Best wishes to everyone for the weekend. I hope you have a good one! And if you're facing the life and financial challenges of these times I send you my prayers and best wishes.
As always thanks for your visits, faves, comments and support.
The end of fall colors in Minnesota brings about one of the biggest changes in Minnesota weather. The temperature drops dramatically, the winds increase, there are more cloudy days, and there is significantly less daylight. This time of year has been incredibly hard for me over the past 7 or so years. Many of the traumatic events and hardships that I have faced have been during this period of the year. This is often a season that I dread. I rarely make it out to do any photography and it often ends up being a season of depression. I pray that the Lord would get a hold of my heart and help me to see the beauty in this season even though the pain often times clouds my vision. Oh Lord how I need You!
This was a photo taken after a climb in the Gran Sasso National Park. It was a bit of a traumatic day but at least some good came out of it with the photos!!!
George Henry Berry enrolled with the Durham Light Infantry 2nd Battalion in WW1
Very sadly George lost his life barely two months after landing in France, having sustained a head injury, whilst in the trenches. Only 34yrs of age George left a wife and four young children.
George is my hubby's Great Grandfather.
This tin was passed onto me some years ago, when I was researching my hubby's side of the family. It's a chocolate box, given to the troops. It contained these medals, although I'm not entirely sure if those at the bottom were George's.
For the family, like many other's, it was a very traumatic time.
George's younger brother enrolled secretly under a different name, as he was underage, into the Gordon Highlanders.
Having been brought home, he was stationed in Scotland and returned to the war field a year later. He too sadly lost his life, at the tender age of 19yrs
Kept in our hearts
“Don't judge the gentle; their gentleness is stronger than your fears and angers. Don't judge those who have lost their gentleness; you haven't lived their lives. In all people, hope for the gentleness to return and see gentleness for the beauty that it is.”

DUST TO DUST – THE CIVIL WARS
THROUGH THE EYES OF A CHILD
When the air is filled with acrid smoke
and filling up your lungs
you try to breathe
but cough and choke
fall breathless down on Autumn leaves
this was the fire to end all fires
it took so much away
memories and photographs
things you can't replace
images burned into my mind
imprinted on my heart
like scars and tears of sacrifice
for all those who depart
how many fires does one man have
how many times must the phoenix start
to rise from ashes; dust to dust
stitching back the pieces
the homespun quilted, tattered rags
singed and worse for wear
somehow mean so very little
now there's no-one there
I lost it all again, you see
not once, but many times
I wonder that I'm here at all
I wonder what it means
that many people want me gone
so many let me suffer
small as I am
I wait in darkness
clothed in sackcloth
barefoot gashes
where the glass cut through my flesh
was cauterised and crashing now
through thick, neglected undergrowth
I run in any direction
I have to get away from here
avoid the resurrection
I think I'll hide for longer this time
I think no-one will notice
a small girl hiding in the darkness
closed mind now like a lotus
waiting for the sun to shine
wait in vain for peace of mind
to carry me from the darkest past
where I can be a child at last.
Who will believe the child in me
some don't believe me still
What will it take for them to believe
that everything I am and say is real ...

After a traumatic summer I have finally made it to Jasper this year. And I already feel at home. Any day I get a shot like this is a good day for me.
So as I mentioned in my last photo, I was thinking of bringing back my CPTSD theme, well, I also was considering writing Trigger Warning after the title, but then again you've already seen the photo, so, err, yea... however, that said, this shit needs to be spoken about, ***Trigger Warning*** below...
Please Note: This is all about education, awareness and support, it is not meant for sympathy or anything else on those lines.
The subject here is perhaps one of the most horrible symptoms concerning CPTSD (Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), that is, Suicide Ideation, that is to become obsessed over the consideration of committing suicide, it works like intrusive thoughts but whilst they can be random, these versions are fixating upon the one subject matter. Many a time I was trapped into this form of thinking, my own personal methodology differed but on one particularly horrifying night, I ended up in intensive care after a failed OD, and other attempts through the years that landed me in psyche wards, often arriving in handcuffs in the back of an ambulance under the escort of less than sympathetic police officers.
One of the most hardest and cruellest aspects of Suicide Ideation, is when in the actual act, if the thoughts have driven one to it, is the locked in combination of suffering Depression and Anxiety at the same time, picture this; two tornadoes one clockwise, one anti clockwise and you are caught emotionally between the two, so thus the depression tells you to do it, that you're worthless, life is shit, etc, but the Anxiety tells you that you are too afraid, you don't know what's on the otherside, there's no turning back, on and on it spins around in your head. Ultimately the anxiety can be your best friend and pulls one back at the last moment, thank god!
I never succeeded, obviously, but fuck me I came close and I would strongly advise, if you are feeling this way, you speak to someone, you have every right to live. Remember, it's truly an emotional bluff (as big and convincing as it may seem), you are better than your thoughts and you are a hero for coming this far, having ever faced such a battle, never, ever give in to it my dear friend. It's actually because you just want the goddamn pain to stop, it can, and it will!
Think of it like this, so many people before you have been there, survived and thereafter life got beautiful for them, you are no exception from that miracle, I am living proof. Now I use my experience to guide others as I hope I am doing here. You live in a universe of infinite possibilities and life can still surprise you. Believe that!
I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you! :)
PS: If however you are getting to that point, please consider going here...
On December 28th of last year I posted a photo of our Tiny Tim called "Saving Tiny Tim." It touched many people. Last Monday (June 5, 2023), Timmy was rushed to the doctor with labored breathing, and put into an oxygen tent for overnight observation. He did not get better the next day, so we were told to rush him to the nearest ER, one hour away. We made it, and rushed him in. It was determined that Tiny Tim had a relapse of his Osteosarcoma, and his lungs succumbed to the cancer. We thought it was gone, but it only takes one evil cell to do this damage. Tiny Timmy was a trooper, he was truly Super Timmy. He lasted through chemo, through amputation and still always had the best disposition and smile. He gave us hope, even when the odds were against him. This type of aggressive bone cancer is so rare, and even rarer still in the very young, and even rarer still being so resistant to any treatment. It did not respond to the chemo, and took his little lungs and breath away. We rushed him to ER, but had no choice but to help him get his beautiful wings. His story, and his little sweetness touched even the ER nurses who see grief every day. Everyone was touched by Tiny Tim. Fly high, Super Tiny Timmy. I hope you are dancing in the sky, and I do hope the angels know just what they have (Ref. to song "Dancing in the Sky" by Dani & Lizzy). 🌈

"God Bless us, everyone!" Says Tiny Tim in Dickens' classic Christmas tale.
Tiny Tim, our little lion cub.
~~~~~
Happy New Year 2023!
When we named Tiny Tim we had no idea what would happen this year. It also happened at Christmas time, which is uncanny. Timmy became lame this summer, and we first thought it was just a pulled muscle. We later found out that something was causing severe bone degeneration. It could be cancer, or some infection. He was in severe pain. After treatment we were unable to save his little leg, but we saved his tiny life. Just before Christmas he became a "Tripod". He is amazing! He's healing very well; and he plays and runs pain free now. We tell him he gained new super powers, and we call him "Super Timmy!"
We are hoping for a calmer New year in 2023, every time I say that though, something happens. We lost five of our babies this year, and Timmy was a traumatic event for us. But we are coming out of it, looking positively toward a great new year! Happy 2023!
One of the townships where black residents were forced to move to during apartheid, the upheaval for these poor people was traumatic.
La historia reciente de Riaño está marcada por la traumática construcción del embalse que lleva su nombre, para lo cual, destruyó y posteriormente, se anegó, el pueblo original, el antiguo Riaño.
El proceso de construcción del pantano dio lugar a numerosas movilizaciones populares; enfrentamientos con las fuerzas del orden; e incluso suicidios, ante el desalojo de cada una de las casas para su posterior derribo por parte de la maquinaria del Estado. Fue llevada a cabo para la demolición de las casas por parte del gobierno, la ocupación militar de los pueblos de la comarca durante varios meses, realizándose así, el desalojo por la fuerza de los vecinos que se negaban a abandonarlas.
Un último dato digno de mención, que se suma a la gestión llevada a cabo en el proceso de destrucción de los valles de la comarca leonesa, fue el hecho de que el cierre de la presa de Riaño se produjese en la fecha del 31 de diciembre de 1987; cuando era conocida la circunstancia legal, de que a partir del 1 de enero de 1988 entraba en vigor la nueva directiva europea que prohibía la construcción de embalses como el de Riaño por motivos medioambientales; directiva relacionada con la protección de valles y pueblos de alta montaña en los territorios de la Comunidad Europea.
The recent history of Riaño is marked by the traumatic construction of the reservoir that bears its name, for which, destroyed, and subsequently flooded, the original town, the ancient Riaño.
The process of construction of the swamp gave rise to numerous popular mobilizations; Clashes with the forces of order; And even suicides, before the eviction of each one of the houses for its later demolition on the part of the machinery of the State. It was carried out for the demolition of houses by the government, the military occupation of the towns of the region for several months, thus effecting the eviction by force of the neighbors who refused to abandon them.
A final fact worthy of mention, which is added to the management carried out in the process of destruction of the valleys of the Leon region, was the fact that the closure of the dam of Riaño occurred on the date of December 31 Of 1987; When the legal circumstance was known, that from 1 January 1988 a new European directive was in force which prohibited the construction of reservoirs such as Riaño for environmental reasons; Directive relating to the protection of valleys and high mountain villages in the territories of the European Community.
En 1985 el Gobierno español consumó el llamado "cerrojazo" en numerosas líneas ferroviarias que consideraba deficientes. Transcurridos 25 años, este es el aspecto interior de una de las estaciones clausuradas en la línea férrea Soria - Castejón (1927-1996).
In 1985 the Spanish Government committed the so-called "cerrojazo", the traumatic locking of so many railway lines that were considered "deficient". 25 years after its closure, this is the inside look of one of the stations of the Soria - Castejón railway line (1927-1996).
My boys aka Rupert and Razzle! They have both been in the wars since i last posted pic of them. Rupert had an operation to remove 2 lumps which ended up to be more traumatic than planned and Razzle has had more heart issues but medication and regular scans are keeping him in check. But here they are looking as as gorgeous and as cheeky as ever!
It appears so peaceful, out the front door of our hootch. But every once in a while, Charlie would fire a rocket at us. Thankfully, due to the mountains behind us, it was pretty much impossible for him to get the right 'angle' of attack, and they either ended up near the air base, or waaaaaaaaaaay out in the rice paddies.
And yes, that is Monkey Mountain in the distance. That's where our AFVN radio station was located. It would give us the 'sanitized' news of what was going on back home. People just don't realize how much truth there was in the old Robin Williams film, "Good Morning, Viet Nam."
At least they would play Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, The Grass Roots, and Steppenwolf, without whom we would have never survived.
My family and I have had a traumatic last few weeks. But I'm sort of back and will try to catch up. I don't have a lot of new stuff ready. I'll get back in the swing of things soon.
One from the summer. Pike County Georgia
From the looks of this iceberg it must have had a long traumatic set of experiences during its multi-decade journey from the top of the Greenland icefield, down the Jakobshavn glacier and out the Illulissat Icefjord to where I photographed it in Disko Bay on an overcast day.
