Much of the North Yuba landscape is dense and steep: a harsh environment that allows wildfire to quickly spread while limiting human accessibility. Prescribed burns decrease fire hazard and can reduce the impact of future wildfires to the area in the future. Other benefits include enhancing wildlife habitat and reintroducing fire into a fire-adapted ecosystem.
