In this image, waterdrops magnify the feather's details... i.e., its barbs and barbules.
A typical vaned feather features a main shaft, called the rachis. Fused to the rachis are a series of branches, or barbs; the barbs themselves are also branched and form the barbules. These barbules have minute hooks called barbicels for cross-attachment. [...] Feathers insulate birds from water and cold temperatures.

This was the scene as captured by one camera out at Salmon Creek State Beach during another one of this year's color events in the sky. I tried to scoop up as much of the rather showy sunset color without using my fisheye lens. But, somehow, I think having to deliberate over a super-wide and ultra wide lens choice isn't exactly a real problem. Anyway, thanks for having a look!
Phasenverschiebung
Die sonderbare Transparenz entsteht nur durch das Spiel mit Licht.
Phase shift.
The strange transparency is only created by playing with light.
Déphasage
L´étrange transparence n´est créée quén jouant avec la lumière.
While the prayer of words is an attempt to express to ourselves our dependence on the great mystery, the prayer of silence is not so much to express, but to experience, that dependence. We acknowledge and rejoice that we are the beloved, created out of nothing. I sit as content as a child on its mother’s lap.
