A box fresh male Four-spotted Chaser Dragonfly.

With this species in particular - when first emerged - it is very easy to see the amazing internal structure of the abdomen through the translucent outer wall.

These internal cells (which remind me of a honeycomb) must have something to do with contracting/expanding the abdomen to move air in and out of the spiracles along the edges for breathing.

Isn't nature amazing!

In this image, waterdrops magnify the feather's details... i.e., its barbs and barbules.

A typical vaned feather features a main shaft, called the rachis. Fused to the rachis are a series of branches, or barbs; the barbs themselves are also branched and form the barbules. These barbules have minute hooks called barbicels for cross-attachment. [...] Feathers insulate birds from water and cold temperatures.

Went to a summer house with my friends. Everybody was resting, as was I. The glass was beside me on a table, and I reached for my camera.

It's impossible not to love the nature in the autumn. Even when the colors didn't get colorful much. There's something special in the light and stillness of the water, especially in the evening. May be this is transparency of the air and water....

Phasenverschiebung

Die sonderbare Transparenz entsteht nur durch das Spiel mit Licht.

Phase shift.

The strange transparency is only created by playing with light.

Déphasage

L´étrange transparence n´est créée quén jouant avec la lumière.

Glass is transparent, but mirrors are also made of glass.

Beware of what you see.
