A revolution is taking place in London, the financial capital of Europe. The banking industry is being shaken up by a new breed: the FinTech entrepreneur. No longer happy to settle for the slow, cumbersome and often expensive banking services offered, startups are popping up across the City, taking it upon themselves to solve the problem. Challenging traditional banking services, these companies are focusing on a particular field, such as money transfer or investment, and are using new technologies years ahead of their legacy counterparts.

But can this revolution be maintained? Does tech support this decoupling of services, or will the banks catch up? Is there a revenue model that can keep these startups alive? Moreover, can they continue to challenge an industry that is more than 300 years old?

Join GGM in partnership with Mondo, as we bring together expert women from FinTech to discuss how the banking industry is being turned on its head by startups, and what the future might look like for consumers.

Kirsty Styles - Senior Reporter at Tech City News

Kirsty is a journalist and communications professional, mobile specialist and community campaigner. She's currently a Senior Reporter at Tech City News and presenter of The New Economics Foundation’s Weekly Economics Podcast. She has spoken in person and on TV and radio about youth unemployment, wider political issues, new technology and women in tech.

Eileen Burbridge - Partner at Passion Capital

Eileen is Partner at Passion Capital, the leading early-stage technology venture capital investment firm in Europe, based in London. Prior to this she worked for some of the best known international tech companies, including Yahoo!, Skype and Apple. Among her many accolades, Eileen was named one of the 12 Most Influential People in Tech by the Telegraph (2014), is one of nineteen members of the Prime Minister's Business Advisory Group, and is HM Treasury's Special Envoy for FinTech. She was made an MBE for services to UK Business in June 2015.

Leah Templeman - Analyst at Mondo

Leah joined Mondo at inception to help build the first full-stack mobile bank. She gained expertise in the startup world by spending time at Vita Coco after starting her career at Bain & Co. She has a degree in Mathematics from Oxford University.

Wendi Li - Product at TransferWise

Wendi has a strong financial background having worked at UBS Investment Bank, Goldman Sachs and Boston Consulting Group. In 2014 she made the move into FinTech, joining TransferWise, the “Unicorn” that enables cheap international money transfers. She has an MBA from INSEAD and studied Finance and Corporate Strategy/International Business at the University of Michigan.

Laura McMullen - Business Development at Funding Circle

Laura heads up the Business Development team at Funding Circle, the leading marketplace in peer-to-peer business finance. Prior to this she worked in Business Development at Groupon and as a manager at Macquarie Capital Partners.
