The Trans Am models of Pontiac's Firebird have always appeared flamboyant in addition to having the line's higher powered engines. This one is the 30th Anniversary model of the Trans Am package as indicated on the placard. To me, the styling of this version seemed overdone specifically those multiple 'nostril'-like scoops on the hood and bumper. It was obviously styled for a certain market segment within a certain era.
