Alex Smith trying to do the Ray Lewis Dance?

A security guard directed photographers to sections of the fence that would not block the view of people in the stands. The Los Angeles Chargers held their 2022 spring training camp at Jack Hammett Sports Complex in Costa Mesa.

What do the Warrior Games mean to you?

They saved my life. I could write a book on my three years with the Warrior Games. I was in and out of hospitals for three years and was told I’d never run again and probably not even walk properly again. Being a former tri-athlete, I didn’t want to live life that way. Cami Stock (assistant Air Force coach) and others figured out a way I could use swimming as my therapy. I competed in the first Warrior Games as a swimmer and won a bronze medal in basketball and was captain of our team last year.

What motivated you to try out for the Air Force Warrior Games team?

I’ve been able to reconnect again in athletics. I’d forgotten what it was like to wear a jersey on Saturdays.
