A wooded trail beside water is always a pleasant walk if I cant make it to the Mountains this is where I like to go

The world will drown in her tears of sorrow.

Typically, a trickle after the month of May, the rains have been good to this little hidden spot. While not at its peak it still managed two cascades out of the typical three during high rain totals.

Dark and wet areas of the wood are often covered in mosses here is a whole section of the woods that rarely see sunlight on our lockdown walk today.

Last week when I was in Mt Hood area, I took a trail to Tamanawas Falls. The trail itself is very beautiful, and there are many small falls on Cold Spring Creek.

A couple of days ago I posted an image of the beautiful Wahkeena falls and while going through the images, I found some other photos that looked interesting. This shot was taken during the same hike. The destination of the hike was the stunning fairy falls and the trail pretty much followed the creek alongside a rustic path inside the Wahkeena canyon. In my hurry to get to fairy falls I kind of ignored the many wonderful compositions available along the trail but looking back through the images I have from the day, I could see that I did have a couple of hastily taken images from the trail.

If I remember correctly, I took this shot because of the shaft of light that was coming in through the forest canopy and lighting up the moss-covered canyon wall. I used the creek as a leading line into the brighter light but unfortunately was not too careful about the clipping of highlights on some of the leaves. If I would have taken the shot today, I would have made it into a composite of two images with one faster shutter speed to expose for the brighter spots and freeze the leaves and a longer shutter speed shot to get the beautiful cascading water. But I am little surprised how little blur is there on the leaves for a 4-second exposure.

It's always a treat to see the Sedona red rocks coated in a fresh blanket of snow. A place renowned for it's hot, arid, desert-like climate with hardy cacti, agave and bristlecone pines; the addition of frozen precipitation can make for a curious view.

A 6-mile hike out and back along the shores of Lake Keowee, South Carolina netted some spectacular views. Leaves are beginning to fall and the colors are picking up.

Chesterton Windmill is a 17th-century cylindric stone tower windmill with an arched base, located outside the village of Chesterton, Warwickshire. It is a Grade I listed building and a striking landmark in South-East Warwickshire.

Charlie loves cool weather hiking so we are entering his favorite time of the year.

He is 1/2 Pekinese and 1/2 Mini Dachshund. While on the trail, he is relentless unless he gets tired.

On the couch, he is a master of laziness.

He is a best friend who comforts my hubby and who chases anything that moves.

He is Charlie.

PS~ the beeper collar is to keep him from chasing chipmunks and squirrels too far off into the forest! Looking for a 7" tall dog in the underbrush is no easy task!

Happy Bench Monday !

I was very happy to find this 'bench' about 2 miles or so into Coon's Creek Canyon.

A hike through the Lake Keowee area proved tough for these old legs. To the victors though, go the spoils I believe they said.

Sedona, Arizona had a White Christmas this year and it's causing me to reminisce last year's December hike through the snowy red rocks.

Max Patch North Carolina. This bald mountain sits at roughly 4600' with an amazing 360 degree view at it's peak. A short drive from Asheville, NC your last 8 miles up to Max Patch are done exclusively on gravel roads.

To say that this little guy isn't tough is a misstatement.

Yesterday we did over 6 1/2 miles. He only asked for a lift when we hiked along an area with long grass.

I can't get over how little he looks in this photo!

What a guy!

Pisgah National Forest was an amazing adventure for our family today. Gorges recreational area offers up some of the most amazing scenery and water falls just into North Carolina.
