A relatively unknown location in Amsterdam with a wide view over the water in the Eastern Docklands....
Location: Erstkade on Sporenburg next to the in 2018 constructed residential tower Steltloper with the Levantkade on the KNSM Eiland at the other side of the water.

Reason: Exploring the city of Amsterdam by bike and findind this beaufitul view point over the Ersthaven on Sporenburg.
Sporenburg: Sporenburg is an artificial peninsula that was constructed in the 19th century in the Eastern Docklands of Amsterdam. The peninsula owes its name to its use as a shunting yard for the Dutch Railways.
Since the 1990s, the area has been redeveloped into a residential area. The district has some architectural value: the bridges over the Spoorwegbassin and the massive residential building De Sfinx and the slim residential tower De Steltloper.
Albertcomplex: This is the residential builting at the other side of the water.
|The complex is located on the south side of the KNSM island on the Levantkade. That former part of Amsterdam was redesigned in the 1990s under the direction of urban planner Jo Coenen, after the shipping company had left. The contract for the design of the building came from Housing Association Het Oosten. They called in the Belgian architect Bruno Albert.
He came up with a rectangular building along the Levantkade, which is essentially a closed block of six storeys with an inner garden. Albert gave this building block in the middle a circular building block of eight storeys (again with an inner garden), which has an opening to the Levantkade. This opening is closed by means of the Barcelona Square Fence designed by Narcisse Tordoir (which cannot be closed). In the north, the complex has access from the KNSM-Laan, which consists of a staircase by poet/artist Jouke Kleerebezem. The complex is designed in a neoclassical style.

Paradise on earth can also be just the pool of an Ibis hôtel like this one. In the background in between the palmtrees the station of Fès. We booked this hotel just for that reason.

Ibis is a French brand of economy hotels owned by Accor. Created in 1974, Ibis became Accor's economy megabrand in 2011 with the rebranding of Ibis Styles and Ibis Budget from All Seasons and Etap Hôtel respectively. As of December 2019, there were 1,218 hotels under the Ibis brand (excluding Styles and Budget hotels), with 159,180 rooms in total across 70 countries.
The first Ibis hotel opened in Bordeaux in 1974. It was created by the Accor group (then Novotel-SIEH) to engineer more affordable Novotels. By 1988, Ibis operated 182 hotels in France.

Sweatpants (Track Suit Bottoms) are a casual variety of soft trousers intended for comfort or athletic purposes, although they are now worn in many different situations. In the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa they are known as tracksuit bottoms. In Australia and New Zealand, they are also commonly known as trackpants, trackies or tracky daks.
The first pair of sweatpants was introduced in the 1920s by Émile Camuset, the founder of Le Coq Sportif. These were simple knitted gray jersey pants that allowed athletes to stretch and run comfortably. Sweatpants became commonplace at the Olympic Games by the late 1930s, and were seen on many athletes in the decades that followed. The rise of workout culture, as well as the birth of hip-hop in 1980s America, led to the popularization of sweatpants as both leisurewear and streetwear.
College students also contributed to sweatpants' rise in popularity in the United States. Since the 1910s, "sportswear" has been a staple in college campus style and in the 1970s and 80s designers began reimagining the "jersey knit fabric that had been used for gym garb" into clothes for students' everyday wear. Despite their rise in popular culture, sweatpants were often criticized in mainstream media in the 1990s and early 2000s; in the American sitcom Seinfeld, the title character, Jerry, tells his friend "you're telling the world you've given up" when he appears in sweatpants.
Fashion shifted during the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting increase in remote work. Sales of sweatpants have increased since 2019,[6] and many high-end and haute couture fashion brands have moved toward creating simpler, athleisure-inspired looks. [Wikipedia]

We've been here for 6 days now and finally nature has decided to play ball with me. Wind and rain every morning has spoiled any attempt to capture a sunrise. Well this morning I nearly missed it. Woke up at 6am, looked out the window of our apartment and WOW....red skies everywhere. Jumped into some trackpants, threw on a shirt and raced down to the beach. Absolutely beautiful

Walibi Fright Nights 2022
Walibi Fright Night is an annual event in Walibi Holland and very popular. Walibi Holland is is the decor of the Halloween Fright Nights. With scary zones like Nightmares, Tangled Twigs, Pirate's Cove and Villians. Full of special scary entertainment and actors, scary music and sounds, smoke, fire and mist.
Besides that there are three haunted houses (Jefferson Manor, Psychoshock, The Villa), 2 walk-thrus (Campsite of Curiosities [new in 2022 replacing Campsite of Carnage] and Wicked Woods [new in 2021 and improved for 2022]) and 3 experiences (The Clinic, , Below and Slaughterhouse [new in 2022] ) to visit.
The experience Wrong Turn into Darkness was only seen in 2021 and has been skipped from the prorgam in 2022
During daytime there is Spooky Days for children, a bit less scary than the night program.
The park is open till 23h during these 12 most busy days and nights of the year. The slogan of 2022 is The Gates Are Open.
