March 1969 - Renumbered to CN 6108

March 1978 - became VIA 6108

1990 - retired and stored

2007 - repurchased by CN

June 2008 - CN moved the car to St. Louis, Missouri for rebuilding

February 2009 - rebuilt CN 1501 delivered by Gateway Rail Services of Madison, Illinois.

The sun is not long up as 4703 sits at Tamworth after the trip down the hill from Armidale dragging the AK (track inspection and evaluation) cars.

A pair of special cars trail the end of a Q-train. The far boxcar bristles with all kind of sensors that read tie/ballast condition, rails, clearance from vegetation/tree branches, amongst other items. All data is uploaded in real time. Any anomalies can be transmitted to the proper MOW for remedy. The boxcar closest has a diesel powered air generator to keep the air brake line charged in cold weather.
