Having looked at today's weather forecast on Monday, we'd decided that we'd go out for a walk from one of our guidebooks today. We got up in good time to get to Biddestone, our starting (and ending!) point. It's a beautiful Wiltshire village, which we hadn't been to before. Most of the walk was in the shade of trees, but not the last bit, so we were very ready for our colds drinks when we got to the pub for lunch! We had mis-read the guidebook and took a wrong turning, meaning we had to backtrack quite a long way and then adjust our route. Good job we a) met some other walkers who helped us out, and b) had a map on my phone to help us find our way across not very well marked footpaths! It was a good day, in spite of our detour, and the cooked lunch under the shaded pergola in the pub garden was just the job.
