Abandoned beauty just off the Natchez Trace Parkway. I am relieved and surprised that it wasn't bulldozed to make way for the new highway.
Artwork created by walking with a tin of leaking paint. For an explanation go here www.paintingbyinstinct.com/Paintings/TraceElement.html
Bison statue at Buffalo Trace. There's a very specific reason why we're here today, and in fact the whole trip was planned because of this: we're part of a group that selected a barrel of bourbon today. I'll talk more about that in later pictures, because it's important, and pretty powerful stuff. Before we get to the actual barrel pick, though, we got an absolutely spectacular tour from Freddy, whose father and grandfather both worked here and he's kind of a legend. There's a wall of pictures of his family through the years in the gift shop.
Best known of all Florence's treasures, this glorious bridge was the only one of six spared by the retreating Germans on August 4, 1944. Over the centuries, flooding unfortunately took its toll; few traces of the 10th-century bridge remain. Today's bridge, built in 1345, was filled with butcher's shops which would routinely discard the carcasses into the Arno causing quite a stench. Grand Duke Fernandino I issued an edict to replace the butchers with goldsmiths to eradicate the smell and gentrify royalty's route to Palazzo Pitti , reached via the Vasari Corridor that passes over the bridge
