Images of the actions of animals and people on the landscape are always interesting to me. Here is a little clump of trees evidently popular with the local sheep as a place for a good scratch. First in a series of photographs taken during a walk from Postbridge to Fur Tor. I've wanted to complete this walk for quite some time and did so on a day when much of the country was sweltering in temperatures of up to 28 Celsius. I left the tripod at home, because this was going to be a rather long (11 miles) and difficult walk, and I hoped I was carrying enough water for me and the dog. I needn't have worried - it felt no warmer than about 7 or 8 degrees on the moor, and was grey and misty. Despite which it became one of my favourite walks ever.
