Illinois River barge handling facility, Lacon Illinois. This is some of my cheesy eye candy type stuff. Even Lee Friedlander did a little of this Kodak type stuff. Hey, the calendar people need images. :-)
As I searched around my house for things that might be ugli-eautiful, I found some nice old die cast metal cars. At that moment I found my Wabi-sabi thing.

This tow was 8 miles from a paved road. Far outside AAA and other Roadside assistance programs coverage area.

Found this beautiful golden colored tow truck -looks like it could be still in use but parked where it is probably more ornamental.

On the lake in the Dacks, where my friend has a cabin, there are a handful of other camps. Not that many, and the weekdays are very quiet. But the 4th of July is a big deal and many campers were up with family and friends.
So, the lake activity was also up.
We're not fond of motor boats, luckily there aren't that many,...but it is interesting to watch the skiers.
This fellow was an ace. Gripping with only one hand, he could do all kinds of maneuvers. A couple of trips up and down the lake, and the show was over and we were back to watching the hummingbirds fight around the feeder.
I'm hoping to get back out to see some of your photos later this evening.

A trio of Superfleet EMDs tow the trash empties towards the sunset near the tribal fishing grounds at Towal, WA.
Someone doesn care about the fact this is a tow away zone, he was going to park his lazy butt here all day. He eve looks away from you when you try to talk to him.
BNSF westbound empty ethanol train U-MIIMXN7-28A (Mitchell, Illinois to Mina, South Dakota) passes the m/v Roberta Tabor at Trempealeau, Wisconsin. The southbound Tabor is holding at the usual waiting spot while another tow locks through Lock 6 northbound. Train details: Two units on the head end and a DPU on the rear, two loads (the buffer cars at each end), 108 empties, 5,068 tons, 6,585 feet.
Amtrak 518 and 519 slowly pull past the classic Dowagiac station with 17 ballast cars in tow to be dumped out by Lawton. The train has been working between Michigan City and Lawton for the Last few months and have even spent a week out by Jackson.
