Sunset at Wollongong's Old Lighthouse today ... this was the prelude to a great sunset ... sadly I was on the road for the main show ... thou I have to say I'm happy with this moment.

Glacier National Park and specifically the Many Glacier region of the park is an incredible place filled with mountain lakes with stunning backdrops! This particular morning, the clouds were thick and partially obscuring the mountains creating a very dramatic and moody morning. As the morning went on the mountains became more visible as the clouds slowly lifted. This reminds me of how currently much of the glory of God is obscured by the sin and evil in this world, but one day it will fully be revealed to all mankind. Jesus will come back in all of His glory on the final day and every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is LORD!
Last macro I managed to take before my camera died. Even when it did, I felt like my lens was still breathing. A little freaky.
Sorry for the horror in the caption. Kinda cool plant, isn't it?

Fuji X-E2, 2x tele converter, Helios 44M-7 wide-open. "Touching wood" as a phrase has been around for some 200 years, its symbolic content, however, has been know since pre-Christian times. When you touch wood in order not to tempt fate, you are invoking spiritual forces such as tree spirits or, in its Christian version, the divine power contained in the wooden cross Jesus was tortured on. Whether you hope for some important transaction to go successfully or you are waiting for heart surgery, "touching wood" is what springs to mind - even for a secularised person such as myself. There is a layer of primal religiosity underneath, whether we are part of an established religion or not. And, in times of crisis, this deep layer comes to the surface.
Spending some time at a library with my little friend reading some touching thoughts written by children...

One tree almost touching the surface of the loch.
Taken along the loch-side walk at Fyvie Castle using an infrared 'Super Goldie' (590nm) filter in a digital converted Nikon D80.
The usual effect of the Super Goldie is to make the sky deep gold, and the trees blue. This shot is SOOC, and the water is golden, and the leaves a gentle blue.
There's a link to another shot in the first comment field. Both shots were taken within minutes of each other - the infrared Goldie filter can still surprise me!
There's more about shooting in infrared here: Infrared adventures on my Inedita website - if you are interested in what IR photography can offer you ;o)

A lovely, foggy afternoon near the Carbon River Entrance to Mt. Rainier National Park in WA. All I had to do was give thanks, point the camera in the right direction, and hope I had a clue what I was doing today.
ISO 64 is so right on for moving water and I'm sure the amazing Hoya HD3 polarizer was on there.
Many thanks to our wonderful friends for stopping by and taking a look. You all are the very best! <3

Slug moth caterpillar. The thorns you see all over the body are a self defense mechanism. Anyone touching it is sure to get a nasty skin rash.
I couldn’t quite manage to fully capture the grandeur of this night as the most vibrant part of the sunset was in the opposite direction, but this still showcased a beautiful portion of it. I loved how vibrant the pink sky was and the red rock that shot up to touch it! The Lord’s work is so amazing!
