The "Empty Sky" memorial in Liberty State Park was placed in honor of nearly 750 New Jersey victims of the Sept 11 attacks. I saw many people that night, even children reaching out to touch the names deeply engraved in stainless steel. The Families and Survivors committee unanimously selected this design and the title "Empty Sky" to represent the legacy of their loved ones whose lives were lost. The two walls point to where the twin towers once stood.

The title they chose to express their loss is from this Bruce Springseen song:

The cygnets had been swimming round the lake with one parent and on their return the other one swam out to meet them and then the cygnets rushed over to it and seemed to be greeted!
