Just Owls and More Owls, when the Short-eared Owls come to Edison, and are just really active, you shoot until you are out of space and battery power. You hope you have enough memory cards, and your spare batteries are charged. These Owls were really giving us a show with the hunting and catching of Voles. One of the artistic touches and frustrations of working at LNP was that all the labelling Rayn did around the warehouse was done in graffiti script. I mean, can you read this?
Thankfully I'm good at pictograms and common misspellings. Since it was most of the time decipherable, I was glad to see the job hadn't completely ground him down in the 6 years he'd been there. He hadn't a mean bone in his body, nor a spine, for that matter. At least he was always himself.
That said, management (a misogynistic jerk named Shane who would give Mary Poppins the creeps) tried to hire people he thought couldn't get jobs elsewhere. Then he'd tell you how trained dogs could do your job. It was the Battlefield Earth school of management. I'm certain he purposely hired people he thought to be stoners or art-types, so he could bully them around and suffer no consequences.
My first day he told me it didn't really matter if I came in on time and that the owner was chronic. He also told me he didn't care how stoned I was when I got there, just don't actually smoke at work.
Gee, that's nice. So, I guess I look like a stoner then. Sigh. What a rotten development. I intended to stay there for a few weeks and ended up there 7 steadily depressing months. I would've taken a job on the Barge of the Dead to get out of there.
