My heart goes out to the people of Ukraine. Stay strong in difficult times! This is your culture and your land. The world stays united against this totalitarian aggressor.

I processed a balanced, a paintery, and a photographic HDR photo from three RAW exposures, blended them, carefully adjusted the color balance and curves, desaturated, then and colorized the image in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

I happened upon this building front last Summer, with all the balconies and pot plants, etc, etc and then it became apparent the level of radiation, wi-fi soup and distracted people were amongst it all. In these absurd times that are becoming increasingly surreal by the day, as the Orwellian Nightmare unfolds before our blinded eyes, it's as if society suffers from Anton–Babinski syndrome, seeing but not aware of it!

This disturbs me greatly as much as it breaks my heart to see blind people who are deaf to the warnings fall into the hell pit and whose screams are drowned out by the smart phone, the TV, the PC brigade and the burgularisaton of our human rights day by day of the totalitarian tiptoe of the powers that should not be.

But hey, you won't know this, you're asleep!

Modern warfare is terrible. Whether wars are declared to be "just" or "illegal", or whether the authority behind is "liberal" or "totalitarian", there is an inbuilt tendency towards total war. Total war disrespects the traditional rules of engagement and human rights, it is indiscriminate and attacks the civil population and its infrastructure. We have been witnessing this over the last couple of years. The United Nations may be a weak institution, lacking the necessary teeth, but the law of the jungle and, with it, total war, can not be a convincing alternative. To me, there is some symbolism involved, namely, a visual expression of the way many nations have rubber-stamped or given their seal of approval to the atrocities directed by Israel's right-wing government - not necessarily by their words, but by their deeds or rather by their non-action. Some nations had already acknowledged the statehood of Palestine and France has now joined this group. This is extremely important for the pursuit of the long-awaited "two-state" solution. A quick fix it certainly is not, for the rulers of Gaza, though fairly diminished now, are Hamas, a totalitarian and violent regime that has as much to do with liberty as a cow with playing the violin. But France has made a point.

Jose Clemente Orozco painted his most famous mural in 1937 above the stairway of the Jalisco State government palace. The artist depicts Miguel Hidalgo, a founder of modern Mexico, fighting with what appears to be a fire saber against an evil horde. Orozco wanted to show that the differences between totalitarian ideologies and leaders were not important, but that totalitarianism was evil regardless; leaders of the totalitarian regimes of mid-XX century stand together.

Shown here is the outside of Agia Pareskevi cooperative olive oil press (the 'machine of the people'. Which was in operation from 1911 to 1967. At the beginning of the 20th-century, oil plantations accounted for 1,630 km2 possessing 10 million olive trees that were processed by 113-steam powered plants. The private presses were dominant at the time and they were profit-oriented and generally didn't offer the farmers and cooperation a fair price for their olives and charged them for the storage of the oil. The communal presses were designed to rectify this. And they did. Being a communal press the president of the cooperation and other members of it were arrested in 1967 by the Greek junta (Greece was under military totalitarian rule from 1967 to 1973) resulting in the direct end of the production.

In 1985 the buildings of the press were used again as a meeting facility for the village and in 2004 it was restored and transformed into a museum with the major aid of the Cultural foundation of the Piraeus Bank Group.

The beach of Prora stretches out, a canvas of shimmering gold. But as I walk further, a shadow looms in the distance, breaking the serene panorama.Emerging from the sands is a colossal structure, a relic from a darker time. Built by the Nazi organization "Kraft durch Freude," it was envisioned as a leisure facility for the 'chosen' Arians. Yet, it stands abandoned, a grotesque monument to a twisted ideology. Its vastness is haunting, its decaying walls whispering tales of ambitions gone awry. And then, there's the door. A rusty, iron gateway that leads to... nothing. Shut in 1940, it stands as a testament to the senselessness of its creators. In the middle of the vastness, it's a darkly sarcastic reminder of the hollow promises and the delusions of grandeur that once were. Walking by, I'm consumed by a mixture of sadness and disbelief. How could something so ugly, so devoid of purpose, be planted amidst such natural beauty? The rotting structure, the pointless door, all stand as grim symbols of the madness of totalitarianism. A regime that built monstrosities in pursuit of an ideal, only to abandon them, leaving them to rot and decay.

If truth is subjective, then murder for some is perfectly fine. The ends justify the means: Charlie Kirk. If people are nothing but sacks of chemicals, resulting from a string of chemical mistakes, random mutations, and coincidences, then how can a person’s life have any value? Plants and animals are just chemical accidents too. So really, nothing has any value. Thus, life has no worth. If human life is not sacred, then why is murder wrong? Why would anyone be bothered by murder? Murder is then a perfectly natural phenomenon. Survival of the fittest! If a worthless sack of chemicals dies, it’s meaningless.

Atheism has no standard of objective morals. The worldview of atheism can’t account for the value of human life. It falls short. Right and wrong are then determined by the culture and the individual. For this reason, we are headed towards a totalitarian society. The state (god) will dictate what is right and wrong. A society with a nihilistic worldview will accept tyranny.
