My first adventure to the USA we took a coach holiday from Denver to Las Vegas touring through the old cowboy town of the different state's this town was one of the first place's we stop, Fond memories of Torrington we had a puncher on the coach so we all descended into Subway, this was the first time we had been to a Subway diner.

Situated on the historic Mormon Trail and near the Oregon and California trails along the banks of the North Platte River, Torrington was founded in 1900 by W.G. Curtis, and named by him for his home town of Torrington, Connecticut. Originally a watering and coaling station for the CB&Q Railroad, which began passenger service in 1900, the growing city soon became the main source of civilization for nearby farmers and ranchers. In 1905, the first bridge was constructed over the North Platte River

Great Torrington (often abbreviated to Torrington, though the villages of Little Torrington and Black Torrington are situated in the same region) is a small market town in the north of Devon, England. Parts of it are sited on high ground with steep drops down to the River Torridge below, with the lower-lying parts of the town prone to occasional flooding. Torrington is in the centre of Tarka Country, a landscape captured by Henry Williamson in his novel Tarka the Otter in 1927.

The fountain and clock in the square were given in 1870 by Mark Rolle (1835–1907).

The fountain is no longer in use - as you can see they now use it for flowers.
