Today is a red day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Macro Mondays is On Top. So after a very long and complicated brainstorming on this subject, I decided to go with a tiny wooden bike on top of a green pencil. Spring is just around the corner and we see more and more bikes on the road. So that was basically my inspiration: bikes and spring. I’m not a bicycle person. I must admit I have truly hard time biking . I’m always afraid I will fall… so far it never happened yet but the fear is still there so that is why I prefer running when my sons and husband are biking. But of course, a tiny red bike on top of a pencil is another story…I hope you will like it.

Planned to take sunrise at Moraine lake, but the parking lot was full and blocked around 6am, still very dark outside… headed to Lake Louise, luckily got the parking spot. Almost zero degree, waited for the sun to rise on top of the mountains and reflected on the lake… The sky was burning on top of Lake Louise, a hamlet in the Canadian Rockies, known for its turquoise, glacier-fed lake ringed by high peaks and overlooked by a stately chateau. So closed to the famous top…
I just did not now how to shoot this place.
It was too obvious just getting the people all lined up.
A closeup was interesting, but flat.
Then as I was going back to my bicycle I turned around and 🎶
--- cue the photo music.... a tree, a puddle and drizzle -- 🎶
2 miles peddling home wet with a big smile on my face...
no wonder people were staring at the crazed old man...

Late afternoon winter sunlight on Broken Top, Central Oregon, USA. Central Oregon offers the imaginative photographer four (well three - spring and winter tend to tussle for dominance) seasons of wonderful subjects. Though I've had to pull back on the more strenuous treks, this image was taken by simply stepping out of the SUV just outside Mt. Bachelor's parking lot.

If you want to climb the top-rock in the Coyote Buttes North, there are two routes. The fastest, but not necessarily the easiest route steeply uphill behind the Second Wave. There is no mark, you have to find your way.
The picture was taken during the ascent in the morning in indirect light.
