PTM 3/52 Everyday Tools

M4H 3/52 inspiration

These are the tools that represent different aspects of my life

I am a Chef and Baker (whisk);

I am an educator, a life coach and a writer of lists (pencils);

I am a mender of broken things and heavy hearts, the one that holds things together (safety pin);

I am a photographer, a student, an explorer and dreamer (camera).

I was inspired by life and the part I play!

Inspiration was slow to come; then I felt an idea take seed inside my brain. I started scribbling notes and drawing pictures. Some days are like that; nothing; then inspiration hits me out of the blue!

Processed with Paint the Moon Silver Spoon action, Florabella Vintage B&W and Vintage Page B&W textures applied, the storyboard I made myself.

2 drawknives and a small axe kindly donated by Richard after hearing about my workshop fire. Also a tine from an old drag rake.

Display of tools at the Bale Grist Mill, Calistoga, California. The mill is one of only a couple of working wood-age "Evans" mills in the US.

A friend of mine who works at the Historical Research Center where I volunteer found this tool years ago and has wondered what it is. It's about 6" long, is jointed and folds towards the rod, and is all metal.

I mentioned that I belonged to Flickr and knew that there were members with all sorts of knowledge and interests. I took a photo with my iPhone and am posting it on the off chance that someone can identify the tool and its use.

Category A: I know exactly what it is. It's a ______ used for ______.

Category B: I don't have a clue, but here's the name and the use that I made up.

It's a _______ and it's used for__________.

I look forward to your responses. ;-)

*Please state whether your response belongs to category A or B.

.....can't stay away from metal!

Sometimes the best tools are just pieces of scrap from the bin. You use them once in a pinch and then they become fixtures in the shop. I use this bar all the time. It’s great for binder bolts, bridges, and front derailleur braze-ons like this one. On an unrelated note, happy new year everyone! #brazeon #flux #chapmancycles

dont' forget to share your collections!

The cultivation of wine grapes relies on the hard work of people who toil in early morning, cold hours and in hot, bright conditions that keep those little grapes coddled in perfect conditions.

Hand tools on the Fremont Powerhouse wall, Oregon

A break in the recent turd weather gave me a chance to have a play with the new rgb torch I have made whilst the weathers been so poor. Here with a little dome tool spinning and three badly aligned domes. Also set off a smoke bomb which didn't being much to the party.

I have the upmost repect for all the highly polished shots I look at on here. I find that there is so much to think about and trying to execute the shot I have in my head seems nigh on impossible in the dark. I'm sure in time everything will fall into place and if it doesnt then I'm still having a buzz whilst doing it.

RGB torch is a 10w pool bulb mounted in three interlocking guttering reducers. A momentary switch mounted on the side powered by 8 aa batteries. Ive also fashioned a mount for some bubble rod which is due to arrive soon bodged together from a light fitting and a 15mm stop end. Cheers fastchris and stu8fish for the advice and pointers for its construction.

Nice 1.

Mass effect's Omni Tool/Omni Blade re-imagined as a ring.

Surely one of the stranger ideas that has popped into my head. Wasn't quite sure if it was "good enuff" but the design has grown on me (especially after I got the more subdued steel version).

Made in Stainless Steel via Shapeways then hand painted by me.

I love vintage tools and I wanted to make a series of old tools. I managed to find someone who had a big collection of vintage tools and he was willing to lend them to me to photograph.

No matter how many times we go to the Saturday market in Newtownards, my father-in-law always has to have a wee look at the tool stall......everything from 20mm fuses to jump leads that would start a Chieftan Tank!!!

He never buys anything.....just likes looking :)

Hitachi’s slogan “inspire the next” was evident at Tameside College as myself and my peers enjoyed a photo-shoot endorsed by the company featuring their new selection of power tools.
