Made for my Dad's 50th. Dad has always been such the handyman, growing up I always remember him out in the garage building or fixing something! So when it was coming up to his bday, I knew this would be the perfect cake! Chocolate cake with raspberry plum filling, covered in fondant. Handmade fondant tools.
One for my collection of pics showing how different tradesmen have widely varying types of basic tool outfits.
This one belongs to the lead guy of a 2-man crew that installed our new heat pump.
Not a whole lot of organization to it. But as they say, "I know just where everything is."
The toolbox holds a complete solar power station for recharging cell phones and AA or AAA batteries.
It was a donation to the Occupy Wall Street movement, inspired by the news stories that the gasoline generators had been removed by the police.
The box has a volt meter and two outlets that are accessed from the front. The bins in the top of the tool box hold rechargeable batteries and usb cables.
Inside, a 12 volt battery is held in place in the bottom section, and the top drawer holds a small solar panel that can be propped up at the necessary angle and held in place by the lid.
Better in big size !

From the photo shoot for ClassicAuto magazine No 89 (2/2014): cover article about BMW 750iL E32. I'm also the co-author of this article, second author Jakub Mielniczak is authority in classic BMWs and also the owner of this car.
The sides of the drawers are finished in high gloss black lacquer to match the corner cove molding in the top compartment. Drawers completely lined with cork. I don't know what came over me.
The whole hefty works, just under 29 pounds empty, rests easily on a sturdy 9" turntable, itself bottomed with cork. To facilitate easy turning for a big clumsy box is why. Also, a view of how the sausage is made, with the worst parts of the leather which took some major abuse during the process, not to mention some holes in the cow hide I had to accomodate and hid here. And some less than perfect joins which I elsewhere managed to hide.
October 2008. One of the finest gifts I've ever received.
