I folded this origami Chrysanthemum Ball (Yasuko Suyama) as a present for my neighbor, who moved recently to an other house. I remembered that she liked this one, so I refolded it ;-)
This is the top view and you can see clearly the chrysanthemum.

You need two pieces of paper, one for the box and one for the lid.
Here you can see a different view of the same model.
I used double side color/motive paper, 24cm each.

Snow Crystal(s) of Translucent Folding is a Golden Oldie in ‘origami world’ and I finally found all seven variations, if you include the basic form too then there's eight of them.
I made a kind of systematic view, to show you all the variations.
There is the basic form (on the left in the middle with 3 arrows), which can be altered into 3 'Snow Crystals'.
The 'hexagon-crystal' at the bottom has one variation and the one on the right has three.
It is always a big surprise how a model can change just by adding a few more simple folds. Origami and folding is great fun ;-))

On my very first participation in an origami meeting in 2011 (Freising) I have seen this beautiful "Hexagon Diamond Box". Hilli Zenz had folded it from her self-colored paper! I was immediately in love with this box :-)!
I was long looking for the book by Tomoko Fuse with the instructions, which is unfortunately out of print. This year I was able to finally buy it used.
But the clou is that I had luckily the chance to learn the lid of this box from Hilli this early summer in Prien. She showed a very different, very economical way to fold the diamond lid as it is found in the book.
So here now I can show my fold of the beautiful "Hexagonal Diamond Box" by Tomoko Fuse.
And please take a look of the beautiful fold by Hilli with her self-painted paper here .
Many, many thanks again, Hilli , for learning/teaching me this wonderful box!!

This model was standing on my "to-do-list" for a long time :)!
Today I tried it first time... This is my third fold of the model. And yes, I dare to take one of Hillis painted papers :))!
I have a lot of her beautiful papers, but very seldom I take it to fold with..... because I fear I could made faults and the wonderful paper is damaged.....

In autumn I will give an origami workshop at the adult education center (in German: VHS) and I have made this photo for the out coming brochure.
I love these two models a lot :)!
For me they are classical designs.
Durant l'été 2014, Ioana Stoian m'a contactée pour me proposer de participer à son nouveau projet de livre "The Origami Garden". Je connaissais déjà son premier livre "Origami for All" www.origamiforall.com/

In the summer of 2014, I was asked by Ioana Stoian about contributing to her new book project "The Origami Garden". I knew her first book "Origami for All" www.origamiforall.com/
As this book was a good one, with elegant layout and printing, beautiful models and perfect diagrams, I trusted in her editorial work and gladly accepted to contribute. Today, I am very grateful to Ioana who has included one of my little models is this very good origami book :)
I had to wait a year before the book is finished : it is really a great work by Ioana and the editorial team ! So many colors and beautiful pictures with joyful imaginative sceneries ! And so clear instructions to fold for beginners. I love all the choosen models : variety, beauty, elegance of folding sequences... !
The book includes traditional models, Ioana's and other origami artists' designs. Amongst others, there are the lovely Owl by Wayne Brown, a nice bee by Leyla Torres and Angel Ecija Blanco, and some models I didn't know before : a butterfly by Isa Klein, a dress by Alison Riesel...
On the picture, here is a beautiful Vase by Tomoko Fuse, a lovely little dog by Eric Gjerde the tessellations master (yes, he can do that !) an amazing rabbit box by Jacky Chan and a superb 2D flower by Ioana. I also really love her unique squirrel, a beautiful geometric design, I tried to fold it in many sizes, it gives always very good rendition.
Ioana choosed a little bird of mine for the book and drew perfect diagrams. She also did a nice variation that makes the bird stand firmly on its two feet.
Here is my version :
www.flickr.com/photos/vivianedespapiers/15118629884/in/da...
Ioana's version is on the picture and on the book cover :)
Since now, I am very happy to be able to recommend this book to anyone who wants to enter in the origami world of art and imagination.
Well done Ioana ! And thank you so much for inviting me to contribute, I cannot tell the emotion about this first experience :)

I borrowed an exhibition catalogue of Tomoko Fuse and was surprised to find tessellations in it, wonderful large pieces which were incredibly lots of work to fold, really beautiful! This pattern caught my attention and I reverse engineered it.
