Tokens from during our L5R days. We used these ornamental stones as counters for our L5R games. In my case, they're used mostly as Farmland tokens. While starter boxes of L5R cards usually came with plain, colored glass counters, I insisted on buying some separately, because these are so much prettier than the ones packaged with the starter sets.
I lived in Williamsburg for 5 years and now I live about an hour away. I LOVE taking pictures here because I can always find something new that I haven't seen before. I don't like taking "touristy" shots because anybody can take these so now when I go I look for out of the ordinary angles and textures.

This is the obverse of a lead token bearing the initials IW. There is just the possibility of a legend, but not that convinced. The I is barred which may well mean it should be read as a J. These initials are those of the issuer presumably. Diameter 26mm. W. 7g. Thickness 1.5mm.
The piece is a metal detector find I have been asked to I.D. It has come from the Lune Valley in Cumbria. Recorded by the Portable Antiquities Scheme under LANCUM-9BBDE1
