One of my best plates ever, Togo, "collected" in Berlin. I deliberately say "collected", because I only used the knowledge about this vehicle and the relative proximity and gave free rein to my greed for extraordinary plates to get this photo. Fortunately the 2 hours drive was not in vain and I could be happy about my first new country for 2020.

Before that this vehicle had already been featured on Facebook and platesmania. Thanks to Jannis who pointed it out to me and congratulations to the first true Finder Princeps who has no problem with me posting this extraordinary event on Flickr even before him. Imagine what he must have thought at the first sighting. Togo in Berlin - simply incredible.

Terracotta water containers and a nice basket or, perhaps, a lid to protect food from insects.

Gymnanthemum amygdalinum,

Another old one from an old hard drive from my trip across Western Africa. A street image looking down on an onion seller in the Capital of Togo. I like the addition of the cheeky chap on the bottom right corner!

Young girls selling snacks every day. No school for them. Sometimes, they find it funny.

I spent three fascinating weeks in Togo. Pictures will come...

====================================

While walking along the Tromso harbour, I spoted this beautifully veteran fishing ship. Only latter I was interested in it's curious name: Togo. A Western Africa country the name for an Artic fishing ship? Well, maybe the captain had some unknown conexion, or the ship did tropical fishing expeditions...

But in Wikipaedia I found an explanation that links "Togo" to Norway. Maybe is the answer, or maybe not. Togo was a lead sledge dog in early XX Century which became quite famous. He was the leader of the sledge of Norwegian L. Seppala, who won famous races in Alaska.

To top it, the dog Togo was named after the Japanese admiral who won the battle of Tsushima against the Russians (but I find even less probable to name a fishing boat in Norway for a Japanese admiral)!
