A female (cow) walrus and her calf swimming off the Svalbard coast. They were about five meters from our zodiac. Apparently the mother and her calf will stay together for 18 to thirty months.
We've had a string of beautiful fall days where the air is so soft and the sun so gently warm that it lulls you away from even thinking that a deep chill is right around the corner
...and today, when I was sitting on the porch, I found myself unable to resist this hypnotic air and sat quietly unwilling to move.
Earlier in the day, I had heard the resident crows chasing off various hawks and going about their duties as general overlord to their designated home environment as they would threaten wrongdoers with their scurrilous calls given out with righteous indignation and outrage.
But now, in the later afternoon with only the soft warmth of the sun to blanket us, three crows came to land on a larger tree nearby and seemed to let themselves fall under the spell of this moment of peace and quiet as they took to preening and caretaking of each other. In that moment, I felt that, just as I could not escape the pull of this reverie, they too, were brought under the soothing incantation of a moment only to be found in nature.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you for your continued support and visit!
On my trip to Yorkshire, I had a six hour boat trip to see the watery wildlife. We found a pod of about 30 Bottlenose dolphins, this was a mum and baby, the baby never left mums side all the time we watched them !!
When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the universe.

These two starling’s sat in one of my wife’s birdfeeders until the snow started to lighten up, afterwards they were able to grab some food and went on their way.
“When you are alone, bless the solitude; when you are with someone, bless the togetherness! Think of the seagull: It flies alone happily; it flies with another happily too! Solitude is a food; togetherness is a food; man needs both and he must be happy with both!” ~

All three chicks sitting together before they fledged the nesting tree. I was privileged to watch the first chick fledge one evening :-)!
After the sad photograph of yesterday, I want to lighten up the mood again. What is more fitting to that than a scenery of Love. A couple of bee-eaters came together on a branch for a little chat. Eyeballing the surroundings, planning the dinner together and gossip about the neighbours who are unable to clean the flight lane propperly. In a short while it will be over with this peace, because the children will be here.
