Well, I've not been sure all day, if I really want to post a pic fitting todays FGR Challenge, because I'm too much into life to make such bad jokes. Then i realized how many much bader jockes I already did during the last 157 days, so I did this. of Course in the meantime for sure there appeared some toe tags. What shells. Mine says "Fugg off, Death!!!".
Sorry for my dirty feet. I'm working on it. :-D
For FGR's Challenge "Death on ...", 365 days and threesixtyfive and Nude self portraits. ;-)
Sorry if this is morbid.
But it's how I felt all day. I've been feeling myself getting sick the past few days. So when I woke up way too early this morning with every ailment you could imagine, I got up and Googled "swine flu symptoms." It was probably a bad idea, because then I spent the rest of the day with people convincing me that I did NOT have H1N1, or whatever they're calling it now.
Hearing of an outbreak in your town on the 11 o'clock news before you go to bed may have this effect on you, too.
for 365, motha'uckers!
Holy crap, people.
day 365.

I have never hit save so emphatically before in my life. I believe I might have said "Day 365, you crazy assholes, BOOYAH!" and then hit the save button. It was a moment.
I feel like I either am going to have way too much to say or no where near enough.
I love you people.
I love that you have given me laughter.
I love that I have made friends that I know will be friends for life through what I thought was a silly project to get me out of a rut.
I love that this project taught me so much about myself, about who I am on the inside and out, about what I really look like and not what I think I look like.
I love that this project brought me heartbreak - mostly of my own creation.
I did 2 years of 365 days of pictures of my kids before this (in a private blog) and that taught me a lot about who I am as a photographer, but this project has taught me so much more -
I'm okay being me.
And I don't think there is any other more powerful thing to learn in a year than that.
I don't want to get started naming people because I'll forget someone -- but just know that if you are reading this, and if you've been around for even a small part of my year, left even one comment on any of my images, that I couldn't have done it without you.
All of my love, flickr.
This 365 is DONE.

Not sure this went quite right. I mean, for starters, my feet look alarmingly oblong. What on earth happened to my elegant arches?! (And how fitting to end with a 'hmm, not quite sure' image. There've been a few of those.)
Sorry to those of you who were pushing for a selfie, but I guess we all knew that wasn't gonna happen. And it would have been the lamest reveal in the history of the peep show. Which is, of course, what flickr is. An enormous, reciprocal peep show. Obviously I'm just not very good at reciprocating. ;)
So anyway, there we are. Thank goodness. The last few months have been so tough, and while I know everyone in my real life thinks taking a photo a day is a piece of cake, I'm pretty pleased to have seen this one through. I'm not going to do a massive shout-out, because I met too many brilliant people during the 365 to do everyone justice, but I feel very lucky to have made some great friends and met some amazing photographers. And I have to mention Ellie's marvellous 365 community group, without which I would certainly have ditched the project months ago. I've taken so much support from people there. But you've all inspired me endlessly. For everyone who has commented and faved, and even just looked, thanks so much. :)
I won't be going anywhere, btw. Can't imagine what I'd do without this particular obsession. And I still need to learn about lighting, and how to take pictures of people, among a million other things. But I may spend a little time working the recent archives, and I won't miss struggling to find the light during the winter months.
And you know what? Tomorrow? I ain't takin a picture. Srsly.

Yes, I know, I have very pretty feet.
The lurgy has been going round our family in recent weeks and over the last few days I've had my turn to enjoy it. Obviously being male, it has hit me the hardest which gave me the idea for the photo this week. Although I'm feeling pretty much fine again now, tonight was the first chance I've had to devote some time to making the picture.
I set the lights up first and took some test shots of my hand. I wanted the feel of a body in a morgue so I made use of blue and green gels. One blue gelled flash was bounced off the ceiling for a generally cold ambient feel. I then added a rim light to my feet from camera right with a green gelled flash and brought up the exposure on the label / soles of my feet using another green gelled flash from camera left.
I set the camera up on a tripod with a wireless remote and configured the camera to autofocus when the shutter button is depressed (I don't usually have the camera set up this way as I use the AF-ON button to focus). This meant it would auto-focus when I held the remote trigger halfway down. I then set the camera to display the photograph on the display after each shot, which is again something that I don't usually do. I positioned a mirror behind the camera so that I could then see the result of each photograph from where I was sat on the bed. This meant that I could move my feet slightly to where I wanted them in the frame. Well, it kept me amused for a while anyway.
I hope you're all well!

31 - Our Daily Challenge - "The end":
Today is only day 50 of the 365 and I can already tell these challenges are gonna kill me! If not, my family will finish the job as they are rather reluctant models. Not sure this processing really works, but I was trying to capture what might appear to be morgue lighting. Ordinary b/w didn't seem to do it. The stripe on the sheets is a bit unrealistic too....but I didn't have any plain white ones! :)
Ever think about death, your death?
I don't tend to dwell on it but it's coming, someday. I'm not a religious man so I don't lean towards the theory that there is better place for me out there. When I'm done I'm done...
I do think we live on however, live on through the memory of others. Once our loved ones pass, the photographs and videos lost, we are then truly gone. When I walk through an old cemetery and see the little plots with old grave markers I wonder if there is anyone around that remembers these people, knows their story.
When the kids are old enough I plan on sharing everything I know about my family with them. I'll show them the family history, the photographs, tell them the things I've seen, been through. Hopefully they turn around and pass that on, share it with generations that haven't come yet.
What will be your legacy?
I was playing some more with the process I used in yesterday's photo. With my self imposed ban on using other peoples textures I had to come up with ways to get the look I wanted in Photoshop. This is an older photo, an outtake from this shot.

I’ve been tagged (literally *g*) for the first time by my Flickr buddy and creative mastermind Daniel – rapturedmind photography. I know it’s a little bit macabre, but this shot was the first thing that came to my mind, sorry. Along with it I’ll tag another 10 contacts on my contact list and present you 10 random facts about me. I’ve decided not to include a false one, because in my opinion it renders the whole list useless.
1. I almost drowned in my childhood. If it wasn’t for my mother, I probably would not be here today.
2. I am happily married, have two beautiful girls, a brown Labrador Retriever, three rabbits and two colored mice.
3. I dropped out of gymnasium after 10th grade at my own desire and started to train as a carpenter.
4. I work in the IT business now.
5. I HATE spiders.
6. I used to play bass in an rock band for a couple of years but gave it up due to the lack of passion.
7. I can be very pedantic.
8. I have a great respect for heights, but I used to do some rock climbing in the past.
9. I love to discuss something in an open and unbiased way.
10. One of my all-time favorite movies is “The Shawshank Redemption”.

I did this one a number of years ago for Halloween, but I was never really happy with it. This time, I had one Einstein at high power behind (on the tops of her feet) and one low off her soles. I dialed the shutter down so that the ambient light went away and Bam! One dead body!

Death is always tragic and it touches us all at one point in our lives. The important part is to remember those that have past for that memory is what keeps them with us. There isn't anything funny in death but remembering the good times make make it a bit more tolerable.

My wife Holly made a great assistant tonight and sacrificed herself ( not literally ) by getting up on the cold table and laying still for a good twenty minutes in the name of my stupidity. She is just awesome!

So lately I've been seeing a lot of pictures of "corpse feet" with the little toe tag...and thought I'd be funny. Sorry if it's not funny. Most people probably won't have any idea of what this tag means...it's Paddington Bear. Look it up :)
And no, those aren't my feet. Poor Jackson...scared as ever now...
Or S O'Cold for short... I told him not to take his Guinness into the darkroom, but would he listen?

"This is your life and it's ending one minute at a time."
So, I know this is quite a departure from the norm for me, but it is for a contest with a theme of "The End". I think it turned out quite well.
As Colin pointed out, the feet are quite pink to be dead, but the contest rules say that I can't edit it and I don't have (nor want) access to dead feet.
001-365
So this is where i start. 365 days to go. I hope i can keep it going.
Me and chloe have decided to do this together, 1 photograph a day, for 365 days. It doesnt have to be self portraits, we thought we'd make it easy on ourselves
and just do 1 shot of anything per day. I really hope to develop as a person, and as a photographer through this project, and im sure i'll learn many new
things. Thankyou, to those who have helped me so far, and thankyou to those who will encourage me and follow me through this project. Anyways, enough of the
thankyou's. This isnt the end, only the beginning. As you can tell, im gonna be writing alot more in the descriptions too. This is plainly to document whats
going on, and to let you guys know a bit more about me, and a bit more about the shot! Moving on....
About...
Me and chloe sat down, and tried to brainstorm some ideas to kick off with. My initial idea was something with the number one. But, i couldnt really think of much.
Suddenly, this idea came to mind - admittedly, from watching a horror movie last night. So we set into motion, finding the bits and pieces around chloes house.
Alot of credit goes to chloe for this, she made the tag, got all the sheets etc and let me use her camera and 50mm 1.8 seeing as i didnt bring mine. We thought
of other things to write on the tag, and sneaky ways to fit in the 365 numbers, for example, the date of death [which hasnt yet occured ;)] and the case number.
Im pretty happy with this shot, and i think its a good one to kick off the 365 with. Lets see eh?
Finally, happy new year to everyone. I hope this year is great for you all, and i hope you do what you want to do.
Please seek permission before using my work. Also, please refrain from posting glittery picture awards.
Although the thought is nice, id rather a simple link to the group.

today first i wanted to do, was to see last night's Lost season finale.. well its like one of two shows i currently follow because i really love the conspiracy stuff and all the great concepts they managed to bring to the show.. well the finale was great i enjoyed it.. it wrapped up all the seasons stories nicelly and made want to look at earlier episodes of this season.. although i hated to see one my 3 favourite characters dead -and i sure hope he died for a good enough reason (now i'll have to wait for next season to find out doh)..
*i was hopping for cayusa to make a great photo out of the ending since he's been doing them every week so i could copycat his (always) great tributes :-)
he didn't make one so i came up with this tribute/version of the last scene of this season :-)
*to catch all the easter eggs (see this)
Totally forgot about this cover for the 2nd All-Star Assassins cd, entitled "Toe Tag Time in Teen town Tonight". Good times!
It was unbelievably hot out yesterday! AND it's going to be hotter today (35 Celsius....43 with the humidex...eek!) I could die...
Day 365. Holy Crap! I can't believe I actually managed a selfportrait every. single. day. I'll work on stats later, but now...pizza and poker!
The theme for this weeks picture is "cold". I wanted to shoot something more dramatic than booze in ice cubes, so I pictured the result of getting too cold.

Sun Kills
Here's some classic guerrilla marketing to some unsuspecting people taking a nap in the sun - affix a "toe tag" on them to appear as if they have just died from skin cancer due to over-exposure to the sun.
