Gotta balance the focus stacked images every so often and the Meyer Optik lens has been wondering when I would get off of f/8 and open it up a bit. Well this week seemed like the perfect opportunity to do just that. No stacking here, just one image with very little focus but plenty of colorful bokeh. I did have to wait for some direct sunlight but the rest was easy, Put a curly pile of scaly gold and blue ribbon on a mirror, stick it in the sun filtered a bit with a white screen and go bokeh hunting with the Meyer Optik 50mm f/1.8 set on wide open and a Nikon PK-12 14mm extension tube. After seeing a potential angle a bit of poking and prodding completed the look. The colors were so vivid not much post processing was needed. Truth be told I did take plenty of shots and I started with artificial lights but the bokeh came out looking a bit soft and diffused so I waited and hoped for sunlight which I got the next day in the afternoon.

The image measures app 2 x 3 inches but hard to say, the curl measured 1 inch in diameter. Made for the Macro Mondays group, Theme, "Wrapping".

The poinsettia is a commercially important flowering plant species of the diverse spurge family Euphorbiaceae. Indigenous to Mexico and Central America, the poinsettia was first described by Europeans in 1834. It is particularly well known for its red and green foliage and is widely used in Christmas floral displays. Wikipedia

Scientific name: Euphorbia pulcherrima

Bluebells in Micheldever Wood, Hampshire

Yes, it's that season again when Togs battle against the hoards of visitors to bluebell woods to try to get shots before the little beauties get trampled underfoot!

I thought I'd better interrupt my Scotland photos with some seasonal shots rather than let them gather dust.

I spotted there was due to be a sunny morning on Tuesday so set my alarm for early and made a slight detour on my way to work. I hadn't scouted but was pleased to see there was a decent crop out and bagged myself some shots before work.

I decided to go for the 65:24 crop here (on a 5 shot focus stacked image) as it's one of my favourites for general woodland scenery.

I can't hand on heart say no bluebells were damage taking of this image but I will promise that I did my very best to avoid any damage to them.

Thanks for viewing.

Despite the fact that no less an expert than Josiah Whitney, chief of the California Geologic Survey (1860-1874), and namesake of the highest peak in the continental United States, pronounced this peak as perfectly inaccessible, Half Dome has become one of the most popular hikes and climbs in the United States.

The single most iconic feature in Yosemite National Park, rising nearly 4800' above the floor of Yosemite Valley, the reality of Half-Dome is that it is not a round dome that has been sheared, but rather an arête (or part of a narrow rock ridge separating two valleys).

The Ahwahnechee pinhabitants of Yosemite valley called the mountain, Tis-sa-ack, meaning cleft rock. There are many legends surrounding this name, but suffice it to say the grandeur of this place supplants them all.

Because it is so iconic, Half Dome is the subject of millions of pictures (hundreds in my catalogue), this is one taken on a summer day from Glacier Point that I felt looked best in monochrome.

...for warm evenings and good friends.

Looking forward to catching up with you tonight.

Thank you for visiting!

A pic of the office tree taken with my phone because I don't have the energy or space for a tree of my own right now, but that's okay. One of these days... LOL

I'm enjoying the variety of decorated homes on my evening walk.

‘Tis the season! It wouldn’t be winter without at least one snowy owl sighting on our drive to find photo opportunities. We were looking for snowy trees but this guy was right above us when we stopped at an intersection in the country. So I took his portrait from my open window before driving on. We didn’t get out of the car as we didn’t want to stress the owl. Gosh, we all know that feeling of being stressed out these days! Stay healthy and safe everyone.

Please do not fave and not comment.

Another poor quality shot. :-((

to be aware of the tiny Magic everywhere.

Let's enjoy everyone's creativity!

I apologize in advance to any who could possibly dislike this season, but as for me... I'm jolly!

You can't talk to Linus at the moment. Of course you can try but he won't listen because his attention revolves around the young BIRDS. They keep him busy and he hardly finds time to eat. Cleo and Fynn like to watch birds too but you can always distract them (Cleo with food and Fynn with attention.). Nothing will ever distract Linus from his feathered friends.
