If you put your book in your laundry bag to carry it to the laundromat, it's a good idea to take it out before you dump that bag into a washing machine. Especially if it's a brand new book you just started reading!

I sat down at a bench to wait for my clothes when I wondered "where's the book I brought?" Oh shit! I fished around the washer and there it was. Luckily I was using one of those normal top loading washers, if it had been in a locked front loader (i was using one of those too) that would have been a disaster for the book and my clothes.
