All that is gold does not glitter,
not all those who wander are lost;
the old that is strong does not wither,
deep roots are not reached by the frost ...

Some people hate weeds in the lawn, but I delight at all the tiny wonders that flourish before the first mowing. :)
Happy Spring!!!
While playing around with some macro work in the yard, I was intrigued with all the different flower parts that are in one tiny (approx 3/8") Wild Aster flower. This was the clearest shot I could get on a slightly breezy day, but you can see the little flowers within the flower.

Not sure what these small wildflowers are, but they are very common around here. Very short, I even have some sparse ones in my lawn. These were growing in an open field, behind my favorite convenience store... :)

▶ Murdannia keisak — commonly known as marsh dewflower or Asian spiderwort— is an annual in the spiderwort or dayflower family (Commelinaceae), found in wetlands, freshwater marshes and the edges of ponds and streams, native to China, Japan, Korea, and Tibet.
Murdannia keisak was initially reported in the U.S. in 1935 in South Carolina rice paddies, likely accidentally introduced there via rice seed imported from Asia. It now is considered invasive in all of the southeastern United States, as well as in Oregon and Washington.
Small three-petaled flowers, whose color may include white, pink, blue, and/or purple hues, bloom in late summer to early fall. Flowers may be solitary or in two- to four-flowered racemes. Fertilized flowers produce small capsules, each containing several seeds. The leaves are narrow, green, and lance-up to 3 inches long (7½ cm), spaced alternately on stems from 12 to 30 inches long (30-76 cm), often forming large mats crowding out other vegetation.

Tiny, red diamorpha have begun to grow in early autumn, a sort of reverse growing season.

▶ "Also called 'elf orpine' [and 'Small's stonecrop'], diamorpha has had to adapt to the harsh conditions of the granite outcrop of Arabia and Panola Mountains. With no protection from the sun, diamorpha has evolved a reverse growing season, growing from December through May, blooming in the spring, and going dormant through the summer. In the summer, diamorpha looks like a few twigs sticking out of the soil.
In the winter, when diamorpha is active, it still lives in an environment with no shade and no protection from the sun. That’s where the beautiful red of the diamorpha’s succulent leaves becomes important. The leaves are infused with anthocyanins, a chemical pigment that turns the leaves red and protects the plant from a surplus of UV light, also leading to the diamorpha’s striking color. From December through late spring, you can see diamorpha in the solution pits along the trails."

If we were not meant to be together forever
At least let us have the courage to miss each other
The rights to embrace
So that you realize
The mark of my moving heart...
I realize you live in me, guarding my memories

I don't know what these little flowers are. They are these tiny and they grow on long stalks on the hillsides here. I took this shot with my 50mm reversed and hand held.
Have a wonderful day!
I am a bit behind today and have limited flickr time. I will be coming around a little bit throughout the day.
Often mistaken for a miniature dandelion, this Smooth Cat’s-ear (Hypochaeris glabra) is a common but rarely noticed wildflower blooming in the grassy parks of San Diego. While not widely used medicinally today, the broader Hypochaeris genus has seen folk use similar to dandelions:
Mild diuretic properties
Young leaves can be edible (though bitter)
Some traditional use in poultices

我喜歡永恆的短暫
不要把美好的故事留下來
不要讓眼淚成為生活的客串
不去制約﹔被制約,等待遺憾
我酷嗜孤獨的愛
Do not keep the beautiful stories
Do not let tears become the guest of life
Do not restrict
I fancy the lonely love......

With the slightly cooler temps, I made a return visit to Sandy Creek Park to explore some more. I found myself wishing I'd taken a macro lens for all the tiny wildflowers that were along the trail.
What you see here is a berm at the edge of the trail and the woods behind. Look closely at the foreground to see the tiny wildflowers.
Since I'm up so early, I may go get some closer shots, later this morning... ;)

I've loved you forever
In lifetimes before
And I promise you
Never will you hurt anymore
I give you my word
I give you my heart
And I will take you in my arms
And hold you right where you belong
Til' the day my life is through
This I promise you

"Cynanchum louiseae, a species in the milkweed family, is also known as black swallow-wort or Louise's swallow-wort.[1] Cynanchum louiseae is a species of plant that is native to Europe and is found primarily in Italy, France, Portugal, and Spain. It is an invasive plant species in the northeastern United States, parts of the Midwest, southeastern Canada, and California.
Cynanchum louiseae tends to grow in upland areas and is tolerant to variable light, salt, and moisture levels. In the United States, Cynanchum louiseae is often found in abandoned fields, hedgerows, brushy areas, woodlands, river banks, transportation corridors, quarries, agricultural fields, and gardens. In gardens, Cynanchum louiseae is seen as a weed." wikipedia.org
