Last weekend, we went to Timna and Eilat. This is the last picture I chose to edit before deleting the rest of the raw data, almost 100 GB!

This particular photo shows one of the copper mines in the area, dating back to the 10th century BCE. It had the best lighting among the ones I captured. There were others where the green color of the copper oxide was more visible, but the lighting was terrible. I tried using flash and additional lighting, but I didn’t like the results.

This shot has very nice colors and lighting. I also like the composition, with a triangle shape in the middle that coincides with the brightest part of the image. The highlight in the top right corner might be a bit distracting, pulling the eye toward that side, but personally, I like that spiral effect. Maybe having only the central highlight makes the composition feel a bit rigid.

Anyway, it’s just a simple photo of a small cave!

The Mushroom is an unusual monolithic, mushroom-shaped, red sandstone rock formation known as a hoodoo. The mushroom shape was caused by wind, humidity, and water erosion over centuries. The Mushroom is surrounded by copper ore smelting sites from between the 14th and 12th centuries BCE

Solomon's Pillars are natural geological formations named after the biblical king. They are located in Timna valley, 20 miles north of the Gulf of Eilat of the Red Sea.

müsste eine Feuerwanze sein, die sich ins Bild geschlichen hat.

These sandstone pillars got their name from a mistaken theory that the copper mines in the area were part of King Solomon's activities
