Since the beginning of Kate's journal class I have been in awe of the beautiful journals I have seen. Beginning with Timaree's Bisquick book! My first 'fave".

I'm happy with this. I sprayed fixative over 2 watercolors. I was stumped with the binding, I had watercolor canvas and painted that with acrylic. I had lots of old earring that I tied on to the bookmark. Now to start painting. It's definitely for nature painting!

I used Pam Carriker's video on the Journal 365 class for the inside and followed someone else on a you tube video using a cereal box for the cover. I used 8x12 cardboard that fit the watercolor paper. Thanks Pam.

Recently married to Timaree Walsh of Springfield, MO

A few days before it was set to start I heard about a new class from Carla Sonheim. I saw the part about drawing exercises and signed right up. I don't think I even noticed the title of the class.. "The art of Silliness". Now I am a boringly serious person and each day as we got our worksheet assignments I was baffled to the point of paralysis thinking " I don't know how to do this." Timaree gave me the advice to just dive in and try and so here I am 7 days behind, but with something to post. I found it very interesting that the birds were so much easier to draw with my non dominant right hand, so I paid attention to how I was drawing them and discovered that with my non dominant hand, I held the pencil very loosely and drew with big gestures.. hmmm. I wasn't able to translate that to this homework assignment done with my left hand, but it is something to think about and work on for the future.

As an aside, I always thought this poem was written by e.e. cummings, but according to wikipedia that is incorrect...

When timaree posted this picture of a bunny www.flickr.com/photos/freebirdsinging/4742876079/ with a challenge to draw it, I came up with this idea. The rabbits won't leave my flower garden alone this year, as soon as the flowers bloom they eat them, they are even munching on the leaves. I am not sure why. In the past they have left these same flowers alone, and we have had plenty of rain so they should have plenty of other things to eat. This was watercolor, pitt marker and I used wc pencil for the bunny to try to get the textures better.
