It was really hard to get a picture of this because it was really windy outside... but really I just wanted you to see the "wood" effect. Most guns in the 19th century were made from wood and metal (brass) so I wanted to make it look like wood instead of sticking with that dark brown/black resin. I still need to do some dry brush highlights on the brass.

Wat Chaiya Mangkalaram (Thai: วัดไชยมังคลาราม) is a Thai Buddhist temple in George Town, set just off Jalan Burma Penang, Malaysia, the yellow-and-blue temple is also known as Wat Buppharam. It is home to a 108ft (33m) long reclining Buddha image, said to be the 3rd largest in the world.
Draped in a gold-leafed saffron robe, the sprawling statue was erected as a monument to signify Buddha’s final resting position at his death and symbolizes his detachment from worldly matters. Located opposite the less extravagant Dharmmikarama Temple (which lights up beautifully at night) Wat Chaiya Mangakalaram Temple is a beautiful sight with ornate, gold pagodas, and mural-painted walls.
The temple was built on a piece of land ( 5 acres) given by Queen Victoria to four women trustees as a gesture of goodwill to boost trading relations with Thailand. The first monk was a Theravada Buddhist monk from Thailand, Phorthan Kuat, also known as the "Powerful Monk". Legend has it that he was very fond of asam laksa, (coconut-based sour gravy noodles a local specialty ) and even today devotees bring a bowl of laksa as an offering to his shrine to honour him.
In the main shrine in front of the Reclining Buddha there are smaller shrines of different Buddhas and popular Thai deities. Also on the temple grounds many colored statues of Devas and other mythical creatures are on display.

The Dhamikarama Burmese Temple enjoys the prestige of being the first Burmese Buddhist Temple in Malaysia, was founded on 1st August 1803, the temple was known as "Nandy Moloh Burmese Temple" then. Dhammikarama is a temple filled with striking features and rich past. It provides a historical evidence of Burmese occupation in Penang as well as the retreat for Buddhist devotees. The temple is located at the enclave of Burma Lane in Pulau Tikus – Penang Island.
The temple has a main shrine hall, a sima hall, a dining hall, monk's quarters, preceptee's lodge, Sunday school, a library and a lecture hall. The first Chief Monk of the temple was Venerable U. Nandamala.
The temple compound is quite large actually, most often visitors may missed the rear section where the well and other attractions. Unlike the comparing neighbor Wat Chaiyamangalaram or the further away Wat Buppharam, Dhammikarama Burmese temple has a better green and serene environment. Actually, the temple was awarded first prize in Penang State landscaping and beautification Program competition that held back in year 2001.

Cap Tikus (Mouse Brand) is a potion with an average content of 40% acohol that is obtained through processing saguer (a local potent palm wine); the white fluid that is extracted from the enau (Arenga pinnata) tree, in the Minahasa language called pohon seho.
In order to get saguer as sweet as sugar, the bamboo containers which are hung on the tree where the white fluid is extracted (saguer), as well as the filter which is made from the fibres of the enau tree must be clean. The cleaner, the sweeter the saguer. And the sweeter the saguer, the higher quality the Cap Tikus made from it.
The alcohol content of Cap Tikus depends on the process technology. Until today the farmers use a traditional technique, the saguer is cooked and its steam is led through bamboo pipes to the container. Those drops are then known as the beverage Cap Tikus.
