Often times, artists create without knowing the full impact of their work on others. Emerging artists (and perhaps established artists as well) say, “If I can help just one person, that would be enough.” But, what if one person turns to two, then four, then fifty, one thousand and eventually millions? That’s the power that we have as creatives. It’s not selfish to want to reach millions of people if the work that you are doing is helping them through something, propelling them towards something or is something that brings you great joy.
I don’t often create fan art but for years I have been compelled to create “this” piece. I didn’t know what it would look like or what medium I would use but I knew that it was in my future. Quarantine has done a number of interesting things to me like get closer to my art and try to live a life more aligned with my intuition.
For those of you who know me really well, know that I am a BIG fan of Tiesto. I selected memories and elements of my history with his music in order to create this portrait. This was a huge deal for me and you can read more about it in my blog post (www.fiercelypowerful.com/tiesto-self-portrait/). Tiesto - Ultra Music Festival 2011
TGIF!!! Here's one of Tiesto from the Ultra Music Festival 2011 series. I thought this was a pretty cool backstage perspective because it shows off the DJ in action but gives a great sense of atmosphere with the crowd.
Tiësto, a.k.a. Tijs Verwest, is a performer who has transcended musical genres to create a global ‘Tiësto’ brand. His achievements include a Grammy nomination, numerous MTV awards, performing at the opening ceremony of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, and even a wax statue at Madame Tussauds. With over 7 million followers on Facebook and over 130 million hits on YouTube, Tiësto has truly become a universal phenomenon.
