I so very rarely take photos of people but this chap stood out as being the exception to break my rule. I did not catch his name but had a chat with him as he was selling us tickets on the East Lancs Railway's Christmas Shopper Special.
He looks great in his smart uniform, which if I understood him correctly, is of an ex-tram ticket inspector's origin. You don't see ticket inspectors like this much these days.
What's more he was a really nice chap who clearly loved, what I assumed to be, his volunteer job on this preserved railway.

Where once many a railway staff member would have sat - issuing tickets and watching trains pass...
Now only the ghost of many station masters past remain, waiting for that midnight train...
Perhaps one day, from the ashes, new station masters will once again watch!

The City of Westminster meets a Transport for Ireland bus in Dublin City Centre.
A standard London street plate for Abbey Road, NW8, London has been mounted on Aungier Street, Dublin 2 at the head office of Universal Music ( Ireland ) as a tribute to The Beatles, Abbey Road Studios in London being the spiritual home of the fab 4 & their music recording studio.

The girls are on a Tour Bus trip, instead of tickets 🎫 , they are given badges to wear. They are visiting Mackinac Island for the Lilac Festival.
Its the early 1970's and steam is still in regular operation in the DDR. The young ticket inspector awaits his train .
An unrecorded Class 170 diesel multiple unit pauses at Chepstow station with 2G48, the 09:06 Cardiff Central to Gloucester service on Monday 3rd April 2023. I quote from RTT: "This service was cancelled between Gloucester and Cheltenham Spa due to a fault with lineside cabling".
A sign on display at Chepstow that I saw today (October 2023) indicates that the ticket office at this station should continue to operate regardless of the government's plans to close most other such facilities throughout neighbouring England. That is because the ticket office here is independently run, although I've no idea quite how that works in practice.
