Rusty's test results show her kidney function numbers are high (not good) and her thyroid function numbers are too low (not good). She is starting a thyroid supplement next week.
She is sleeping, eating, cuddling and wanting to go outside, regardless of the eagles, all as usual. Either she is feeling pretty good or not letting on she isn't.
I had surgery on 2/26/10 to have the rest of my thyroid removed. I felt it was pressing on my wind pipe again and making me cough and wheeze. Surgery took about 4 hours because my thyroid was so entangled in my neck. The doctor also found a grape sized cyst unrelated to my thyroid that was pressing on my esophagus. Upon awakening in the hospital I could already breath better. I haven't seen the scar yet, but I know there are stitches instead of staples this time.

The picture with me drinking coffee was taken a year ago this
December. It was right before I gave up gluten. In the last year, I
have ended up also eliminating dairy and grains. The transformation is
striking. I no longer suffer from severe acne. Also, my thyroid
antibodies have been coming out normal for well over six months now. I
often wonder how many people are needlessly suffering from undiagnosed
food allergies in the form of autoimmune disease.

Ultrasound of the nodules on the right lobe of my thyroid. The large one is about 1.5cm and the smaller one to the upper left is .3cm or so. 7/10
Babar went to the vet, who ran all sorts of tests, blood panels, thyroid panels, etc.
Babar rode in two taxis; he licked the drivers’ heads and stuck his nose out the window, lips stretched back tight, ears flapping in the breeze. He wagged his tail at passersby who waved at him. He got biscuits and lots of attention at the vet’s office. He sat on a scale and weighed in at a robust 75 pounds.
Babar walked all around the Upper West Side, where, unlike me, he fits right in.
Babar romped in Riverside Park, where he met lots of new friends.
And Linus? Linus got some much-needed alone time.

Neko was treated for hyper-thyroidism, a condition where a tumour within the thyroid glad over-produces various hormones. This results in a variety of symptoms, from weight loss (see how skinny she is now compared to before - she lost over 2 kg), excessive moulting, constant thirst, over-eating, etc.
The treatment consists of Neko being injected with radioactive iodine, which is absorbed by the tumour and kills the affected cells (leaving the healthy ones alone - clever!)
So now I have a radioactive cat! (For about another week, anyway, before it dissipates).

This magnification shows that thyroid follicles
are units lined by a simple cuboidal epithelium. The
follicular epithelial cells (arrows) surround a lumen
containing a homogeneous and coagulable fluid called colloid (= thyroglobulin - in red). In this low-active thyroid gland image the epithelial cells appear flattened and the follicles are distended by a large amount of colloid. In more active glands (P12d_006) the follicle epithelium is much taller
and colloid is less abundant. In addition reabsorption vacuoles on follicular colloid can be seen and thyroglobuline can display variously stained areas.

Glad I did it.
I did the protocol for the nonmalignant patient. Which is 10 juices a day & 3 coffee enemas a day. Only eating foods allowed on the Gerson Therapy. Avoiding all toxins, etc. I took all the supplements I could get in the USA. Only thing I could not get was liver & B12 injection and the thyroid. The liver pills I took had some B12 in them so I just took a extra one of those every 2nd day.
About 2 1/2 months into the therapy I had the benign tumor removed surgically. It was removed cleanly and intact. But I continued the therapy just in case.
The surgeon does these types of tumor removals from behind the eye a lot. He was very certain the tumor was going to be very sponge like and he would just reach in and squeeze it and remove it. But it was as hard as a rock! He had to remove a small piece of bone above my eye just to remove it.
I recall reading in the gerson book that tumors grow larger before they body kills/removes it. So I truly think my body was starting to get rid of it. But it was dangerously close to my optic nerve. If it would have crushed it, I would have been blind in my right eye.
Another thing that the surgeon said, is that I would have short term (2 - 3 months) double vision or long term (4 - 8 months or longer) double vision. If it didn't correct itself. Another surgery to correct that.
:D But the day after the surgery NO DOUBLE VISION at all! Still have no double vision. I really credit the Gerson Therapy for that.
My vision improved in both eyes just 9 months into the therapy. I was able to read about 4-5 lines lower than when I started. I can verify this because I had a full vision test about 2 weeks before I started the therapy and then 9 month after that.
