An unexpected storm gathered itself during an evening walk in Arizona.
Kaboom.
Speaking of Arizona.....
My son has lived there for 12 years and each year we've seen each other twice. He comes here, I go there.
That came to a halt with covid and we haven't gotten together in over a year and 1/2.
That itself comes to a halt tomorrow when I drive down the road to pick him up at the Albany Airport.
I am a happy mom.

Another shot of a severe thunderstorm that passed through our area of northern Illinois in early June. This complex shown stayed west of us. It ended dumping nearly 4" of rain and spawned a small tornado near the Wisconsin border....
a visit to a sand excavation. They have been producing approx 400,000 tons of sand and gravel per year since 1988. The resulting lake is 36 meters deep.
A male Hoary Marmot (Marmota caligata) pauses between mouthfuls to stare balefully in my general direction near Logan Pass, Glacier National Park, Montana.
A few minutes before this was taken, I spotted this aggressive fellow chasing pell-mell down the slope after another rival male. The chasee only narrowly gained the sanctuary of a small crevice, cracked into the side of a large boulder. Not a split second later, this fellow here swarmed into the crack, and there was to be heard a strange song of marmot sorrow emanating from within the stone. This sound was made several times before the first marmot burst from the rock, and raced away as fast as he could. This insouciant victor then strolled casually about on the slope above the boulder, enjoying lunch, and making sure tourists stayed a respectful distance away (notice the 400 mm).
The O2 Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in the centre of The O2 entertainment complex on the Greenwich Peninsula in south east London.
