75th Air Power event 2016.

A pregame flyover of A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft (aka “Warthogs”) based out of the 122d Fighter Wing in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Prior to the home opener game vs the Minnesota Vikings, 09-15-19 at the famed Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin USA.

Note that the stadium clock is set 15 minutes fast, aka “Lombardi Time”.

In his day, Coach Vince Lombardi expected his players and coaches to be 15 minutes early to meetings and practices. Not “on time”, but 15 minutes early. If they were not 15 minutes early, he considered them to be “late”. Thus, it came to be known as “Lombardi time”.

The A-10 Thunderbolt II is an American single-seat, twin-engine, straight-wing jet aircraft developed by Fairchild-Republic for the United States Air Force to provide close air support (CAS) of ground forces by attacking tanks, armored vehicles and other ground targets with a limited air interdiction capability. It is the first U.S. Air Force aircraft designed exclusively for close air support.

The A-10's official name comes from the Republic P-47 Thunderbolt of World War II, a fighter that was particularly effective at close air support. The A-10 is more commonly known by its nickname "Warthog" or simply "Hog".[3] As a secondary mission, it provides airborne forward air control, guiding other aircraft against ground targets. A-10s used primarily in this role are designated OA-10.[4]

On a Monday morning during a fantastic breakfast at the seaside the sky turned dark and the wind started to blow strong, followed by a sudden thunderstorm. Most of the guests in the small cafe were amazed by this and took their cameras as the sunny moment suddenly turned immediately into a big storm.

When it was over I also decided to take my camera and to show these two guys looking after the storm.

People often ask me why I would want to go to Oshkosh, WI for an airshow. They ask "What's it all about?".

Here's what it's all about...and then some!...and more...and more...and more!

Shown is the exquisite P-47D "Bonnie", one of the star performers at this year's AirVenture in Oshkosh.

Have landed after the display the Thunderbold taxied back past us. This aircraft would have weighed about 8 tons fully loaded with fuel and weapons in wartime, the supercharger has been removed from this one, the extra power is not required anymore and saves about a ton in weight which mean less stress on the airframe.

Aside from going to BFVA this year, I also went to the US Airforce Museum in Dayton Ohio, which I can highly recommend.

Gewitter

I sure loved this job - help desk technician at a roughly 90% Mac organization (of roughly 2,000 machines). Here I was building new disk images on the new Thunderbold machines (well, new at the time this was taken).

lucky me for this shot (some time ago)
